Hello Two Stroke Fans, Supporters and Racers, With the success and interest shown in the FMF 2 Stroke Invitational, some people are interested in putting together a complete two stroke series here in the USA. But they need your input. We have created a survey that contains 24 questions and will only take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Please take a few minutes to do so. http://www.surveygizmo.com/...03/two-stroke-survey Please forward this survey to all of your racing friends or post it to any message boards that you happen to be a member of. Let's keep the two stroke flag flying. This can be a great step forward on that front. Braaaap! John

Thanks!
I recommended a "World" series, with a return of the 500cc premier class.
I wonder if there's enough AFs out there to do it? Hell, I can dream can't I?
No 200 rule, no age on bikes rule, no weight limit, a 25 thousand claim rule,
no 4 strokes, all new tracks, no AMA or FIM, 16 years and over to ride, 125, 250 and Open.
Start with 4 to 8 tracks, keep it small if need be in the beginning. No mini's.
That way most can ride more than one class.
Pit Row
#1 - safety. throwing everyone in 1 class is dangerous and someone will get hurt when a A rider lands on a lapped C rider. That is why I do not race locally....I am slower than the 40+ A riders and I do not want to get landed on. This alone would stop me from racing their series.....period.
#2 Who wants to travel long distances....pay sign up .....just to get smoked by the A riders? Everyone wants to be competitive in their class.
#3 More classes allow the promoter an opportunity to make more $$ so he can put the show on. If the promoters cant make $$ the show will not go on.
Board admin: sticky, please?
Honestly, look at how many 2T's have shown up at the invitationals this year. Glen Helen had the closest to a full gate, and the rest of the events were way down on entries.
Manufacturers support will be next to nothing. They are already strapped ,cutting salaries, team support, contingencies, etc. Will the fans support it?
How many riders are going to actually follow a two stroke series across the country, with minimal support? The purses better be good and better pay deep into the field to keep the riders in the series.
Use a series of qualifiers, semis and LCQs to get a main event. Add a "B" feature. Similar to local car short tracks.
Lumpy, I can appreciate your points, but that's a lot of the problem with MX today. Everyone thinks they need to have their own special class so they don't get beat by too many people. Back in the day, it was one for all, and it was never really a safety issue. To be in an event like this you'd have to swallow your pride some.
An innovative format like that would be a draw in itself.
The idea envisioned is a two day event, Amateur on Saturday and Pro (Pro/Expert) on Sunday. Not sure if the AMA or DMG would be interested in sanctioning the series.
The Two Stroke Invitationals entries were kept down by the powers that be, every round had enough entries for either full gates or would have required qualifiers. Mostly it was an experiment to gauge interest in two-strokes.
With manufacturers and other sponsors cutting back, (partly because of costly four-stroke stuff not selling and the economy in general) a two-stroke series would offer a less-costly option for racers to compete in.
There are many privateer pros that can't afford to race the 250F class. Between the investment needed to make the bikes competitive and the costs of maintaining such highly tuned machines, very few can do it without a great deal of support.
Will the fans support it? Unknown. That's part of the reason for the survey.
If everything comes together properly, there will be great purses.
Hope this helps.
Sticky please.
