With soft used market, my 2014 YZ250F may stay in the garage. Anybody else hanging on to one.

I bought a new CRF250R couple weeks back. I haven’t even bothered to put my old 2014 YZ250F up for sale on Facebook or wherever.

I look at at Facebook and the same scooters look still for sale. Some marked down a couple of times. I wouldn’t mind selling it, probably not going to be ridden much. But I’d rather hang on to it instead dropping the price way down just to sell. The hours on it are low it may fool me and sell. My gut says I’d have to sell it bargain basement price, whatever that is.

I won’t know if it won’t sell until I make an effort, but the markets changed.

Anybody else hanging on one, having trouble selling etc.

Market is stagnant. I wouldn’t bother with selling right now if you don’t need the cash and don’t mind having the other bike around, plus I don’t think it’s ever bad to have a backup.

Yeah having a back up is never a bad idea. It’s very low hours and dang near everything on its new. Only thing wrong with it, no electric start. It’s not going to hurt to keep it around other than I am short on room. I’m retired now, will give me something else to piddle with. I need to get to doing some serious piddling on my 97 two door Z71 Tahoe I’ve been working on.

I keep seeing a 450 RMZ on face book. Seems like it 2016 is, look pretty slick too. I think he stated out 4400 a few weeks back. It’s down to 3600 last I noticed. I bet selling an RMZ would be a chore in this day and time.

My only concern would be the longer you wait the more used bikes hit the market.

I’m buying a new bike next year and I go back and forth on it. Part of me says f it just keep the bike and the other part knows it will never get used and sell it for cheap and hope it brings a new person to the sport or maybe someone not as finically stable can get a good bike.

I've been trying to sell a 21 YZ250 for 8 months now and have gotten basically nowhere. 3 serious buyers but they all backed out. So, I'd bet your options are to basically give it away or keep it, unfortunately.

I’d say a 2014 yz if in good shape is worth keeping, they’re at the point where they’re not worth a great deal anyway, the market for 8-9 year old 250f’s isn’t exactly booming. If you don’t need the money just hang on to it for trail riding or if friends come over to stay.

It’s really strange the difference in pricing across the country. I’d bet a dollar to a donut the Suzuki dealers in the Houston area are trying to sell RMZ’s full boat MSRP or may be above. They may not be selling any but they make their money on ATV and SxS’s.

Traded my 21 350sfx in at dealer on a new bike…something I have never done before, I usually sell them myself. The dealer gave me a very fair trade in price, they resold it in less than week… I could have maybe made 500.00 more with a private sale but it was well worth it to me to, not have to deal with the general public and Facebook dreamers….I remember when everything went 4stroke, you couldn’t give 2 strokes away …. Wish I kept my 2001 YZ250 that I sold for next to nothing……

You aren't going to find a lot of buyers willing to pay a premium price for a 9 year old 250F.

Your right, not going to cost me anything. I’m not looking to get a premium, May give it a shot in a few days. Need to clean it up a little. Took it to the track the other day and made a couple of laps.

Used bikes are staying online longer because the Covid craze is over and too many dummies still think they can get spring 2021 prices. List your bike for what a 9 year old bike would’ve been priced pre-2020 and I bet it sells in a weekend.

Bingo, my KTM dealer offered to sell my Husky 350 before my new 23 XC came in. Took them 3 months to sell it because everyone that came in wanted to finance it. It was on consignment so it was a cash only deal, luckily the day my new bike showed up in a crate a guy came in and bought my husky (cash) to ride with his teenage son.

i called they said only 1 at this price , i asked for bottom dollar out the door and they were very hesitant to give a firm price.
finally came back with a tad over $7,500 OTD , crazy markup IMO.
had it been $4,995. + tax and registration i would have taken it and loved it

I'm in the same boat. I have a mint 2011 RMZ250 with less than 4 hrs on it that was my wife's bike. She won't ever ride again and while cleaning up the garage she said I should sell it to make room. I feel like it won't bring very much and it would be better to keep than to give it away

Agreed - I think we are just returning to normal. I think we all have gotten so caught up in covid pricing for recreation products, we have forgotten that these are items that do nothing but depreciate (quickly) when the world is spinning the right direction.

I have been waiting.. I have been trying to find a newer 110 for my boys to putt around on, the days of seeing 10 year old 110s for $3K is officially old.

If I put my low hour 2014 YZ250F with everything hanging of of new or near new, not sure what I should ask. Last year, year before would have ask 4200 ish. Not sure I could get 3500, that’s why I might as well keep it.

Pre covid - a 9 year old 250f is a $2500 bike. I have sold 2 year old 450s for less than $3500 a few years ago. I have a bike for sale right now and am experiencing very low interest in it as well. Seems like the used market is also propped up on a bunch of people who financed their $11k bikes trying to sell them for payoff which is still way over priced.

I can’t remember what year, mid 80’s. I had a one, two year old YZ250. Hurt my back and had to sell it. I recall taking it to a dealer to sell for me. Seems like it sold for 1200-1400 bucks can’t recall exactly. I sure miss that old smoker.

Just reminded myself how old I am…….LOL!

Anyone else having a hard time moving a bike. I know it is winter in the northeast so not the greatest time to sell, but i have a 2020 yz450f with 63hrs. Throwing in 6qts of oil,3 air filters, new rear tire, extra tusk wheels with sprocket and rotors, flow lowering pegs, ride engineering bar mount and G2 quick turn throttle. I have it listed at 4600 or 5k with everything which I thought was a deal. I have had a ton of people offer 4k, which seems absurd. I am starting to think I could part if out and make more.
