Not to steal that other thread, but if Chad clinches early, we've asked Speed for permission to switch the same-day Saturday night programming schedule to feature the 250 title chase instead of the 450s, starting with Southwick. The Pourcel-Dungey thing is going down to the wire, and throw in Barcia, Weimer, Wharton, Metty, Tommy Searle, etc... and you have some pretty interesting action out there.
Stay tuned.

I am up for that. It looks like it's going to go down to the wire so that would be great to see it and not have to wait a week.

Or you could just make them all run 250 2-strokes, and mix the 2 classes together to have the most stacked group of 40 riders in AMA history.

But your ideas cool too... Smile

While I have a couple of buddies who have the ability to make a splash in 450 on any given weekend, and enjoy seeing them ride, I think the title fight would be more interesting...Plus, I've got a few Buds in that class as well.

besides the battle for 2nd through 5th, how was the 250's at unadilla any more exciting than the 450's?

the winner of each class checked out. in both races it was the same case.

also DC, great idea seeing as it's a close title chase between the two. however, i have to think that Dungey might have a little more on his mind now as far as staying healthy for the MXdN... Pourcel can go all out and leave nothing on the table whereas Dungey may have to be a tad more conservative.

agree, the 250 class has been more entertaining to watch this year. Let the powers of the internet put me down as a yes.

.....and mix in all the world championship guys and have a timed qual to get the fastest 40 dirt bike riders all in one race!

now that would be cool with live world wide TV coverage

On one hand absolutely cover it but in the larger picture it depends on your feeling as to which class is the premier class in MX. Would NASCAR switch The Sprint Cup for the Camping World Series to cover that series title chase?

I think the ideal situation would be for speed to expand coverage (who really needs to see another episode of Pinks anyways).

glad we're on the same page buddy.

Well, there it is......If you want to be on TV on Saturday night, you better break out the 250. Smile

This is a great move. In fact, I agree with others. Do it now. 250's much better racing right now.

-But Reed still needs to help his teammate out, and start practicing on that little bike.....

dunno, I think dungey would be more concerned about his title than the mxdn.

I agree, a title will go a hell of a lot further in contract negotiations than an MXdN appearance or win for that matter.

The division between the Nationwide series and NASCAR and 250 and 450 -- and even MX and SX -- is that in motocross' case, both are comparatively equal "national championship" classes outdoors. We may think of the best riders in the 450 class -- and they usually are -- but sometimes that is not the case.

Think of it as the NCAA basketball tournament, or World Cup soccer, where one game is a blowout so they switch to the next game that might be a nail-biter....

Regardless, both will be on TV; just the 450s may get the Tuesday show for Southwick and Steel City.

And by the way Peelout, I think the MXoN is not a priority to Dungey and his team right now, and it won't be until the day after Steel City. Right now, it's all about beating Pourcel, not France and Australia and Italy and Belgium and.... I am sure the same goes for Marvin and Tony.

good points DC.

but being a racer myself, i can't help but think it's in his mind somewhere. even if it's at the back and his main priority is the c-ship, it's still gotta be there. i just hope it comes down to the final moto at Steel City. should be amazing.

Thanks, but I think this one was an obvious improvement, as the talented Mr. Reed is just on a roll right now, and while I am stoked for him and Team Suzuki, the title fight in the 250 class seems to be the real drama right now.....

Well, that and which Monster girls show up late!

yea the 250 class has the best riders with the exception of Reed, I wonder if Reed will race in Brazil the final round of the GPs.. that would be cool.....

The 250 classs is great racing and watching the way Pourcel rides never gets old either. I think Dungey might beat him in the sand since CP still is sick which means the last two rounds will be awesome!

In my opinion, Budds Creek seems like a push, Southwick plays into Dungey's hands, and Steel City seems like a Pourcel track.... No matter, nothing that Pourcel does ceases to amaze me. Knowing how down that guy was with his injuries, and then riding all of these tracks for the very first time, limited English, not knowing hardly anyone and just being here with a buddy and his mechanic, he's extremely impressive. It's already over-used, but this reminds me exactly of watching Bayle ride, and I never really got that when Pichon and the rest of the French moved here, or Albertyn, or Chiodi in '99, or Tyla or Tommy or anyone else. Pourcel is just a really unique rider and character.

That said, the title here is too close to call.
