This ought to be good
I wont be popular for saying this..however:
The AMA 250f class really should be the world championship class, its the deepest, fastest, most competitive mx class in THE WORLD
The AMA 450 class is not fast at all this year- all the top guys minus reed and 5 or 6 exceptions are on borrowed time- there number is almost up compared to the speed that is coming thru from the 250f class...
Assuming 40hp for the 250...
40 horsepower/140 pound rider = .286hp/pound.
40 horsepower/200 pound rider = .2hp/ pound.
Doesn't sound like much presented that way. But, that .086 extra is a 30% hp/pound improvement (which is the weight ratio difference as well).
Or you could flip the first two calculations around and figure out how many pounds per horsepower. The 140 pound guy is running 3.5 pounds per horsepower (140/40), where the 200 pound guy is at 5 pounds per horsepower (200/40).
Giving up 1.5 pounds per horsepower is quite a bit. Translate that to horsepower gain, and the 200 pound guy would be on a 57 horsepower bike to be equivalent. So, it'd be like a guy on a de-tuned Service Honda 500 racing against a guy on a 250F....which ain't even close to fair.
You honestly can't think through this simple math logic?
fastest bench racers in the world on Vital!
Where does your equation differ from mine? I admit, I suck at math and I still did it the same as you, guess you just have trouble reading.
You forgot to include the weight of the motorcycle itself.
Nice try, though. At least you were trying to be condescending even though you were wrong.
Pit Row
I don't have to be a fan of every rider. I'm not saying he's not more talented than me, or any of my future offspring put together. I'm just saying I think people regard him as a threat before the races, but he never really seems to be one.
Ok, so James Stewart drops out of the SX season in 2008. Reed has complete control of the series, then he crashes. Only after that, is K-Dub a threat. Same with the 2007 Motocross season. I'm glad he can step up, but I'm just saying what I think of the guy.
I started following this sport right when Kevin came on the scene, so I've seen his entire career up to this point. He has had some real high points in his time as a pro rider, and I respect the hell out of him for that. But how many c-ships does he have? I think he has one, maybe two MXdN victories? So does Tedesco. So does Ferry. Why is K-Dub so much more important than them?
Yeah, I didn't include the weight of the bike. Nor did I include the weight of the rider's gear, the actual horsepower of the bikes being compared, the actual weight of the riders being compared....etc., etc., etc. My reply was a math example. Plug in the numbers yourself, ya lazy bastard..
I'm just glad that someone made a decision to try something that we don't normally see in moto.
Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing more veterans run the 250F class. I wonder how Mike Alessi would do in that class now that he has upped his game?
P
But the KW of today isn't the same hungry as hell KW who came back after breaking his leg. Same deal with DV12. Both challenged RC at one point. But age and family do slow you down a bit.
But to nit pick mj's point, I would change "fast" to fastest.
As for him being "more important" than Ferry or Tedesco, he's not. No one is claiming that he is. If Ferry dropped down to ride a 250F for a weekend just for fun, it would be just as big of a deal.
But Windham is a fan favorite, and the main reason why is because of his personality, and a lot of younger riders can learn a lot from that, I think.
And I already got the calculation earlier, anyway.
You even tried to make it sound like I didn't know what I was talking about in that other thread, which is why I dug this one up. So you're both arrogant and wrong about this.
He was third-fastest in practice. That wasn't an accident.
