Not really the point of that thread but I appreciate the advice...

So, you are in agreement that inside is always fastest? Always? Regardless of track conditions? Regardless of layout?

That's the truth! And one of the hardest to get past for me when it comes to riding rutted tracks!

I don't think anyone said it's ALWAYS fastest...I think I remember reading "almost always" and "95%"...never "Always...regardless of track conditions...regardless of layout...fastest" as you're trying to make it.

really the only way to go faster is just put quality laps in and that can be just go through a section 250 times and video set it on a tri pod you do not need a buddy to hold the camrea or your hand
if you say hum i suck in whoops set it up where you think it will get good footage
stop look at it see do i need to move the camera over or back it will be good enough
to get an idea of what you can change
if you have some one to help good if not then do it yourself
quality laps is what it takes and time on the bike and dont be a wussy

although when i hit the ground i think humm i am a wussy

don't follow the rider in front of you, take different lines till you get around them.

Ok, so I guess what you are saying is you don't like me and don't want me around this thread? Harsh.

Sorry I said "always" faster when I should have "almost always" faster.... I still say bullshit. Too many variables for a statement like that...

My kid used to forget to do this quite often.

Do not coast is a very easy way to shorten lap times. I explain it as "every straight is the start, and every corner is the first".

Setting up cones to visualize braking distance is also a very good drill. Check out 5 magics website for a complete and detailed description.

The topic title is small easy tips, so I'll add one has not been mentioned yet, proper control setup.

These are the three best ways to improve your corner speed and traction control. Also the three best ways to kill yourself.

Try doing some laps without brakes in practice, although this may sound stupid, most people can accelerate out of a corner but most dont have the commitment to come into the corner fast. not using the brakes measn you have more time to think about an adjust your speed coming into the corner and occastionally ya come in to fast and realise how fast ya can really go in.....or ya crash lol

Buy a bike you love. I did:

I got in more go-faster seat time on mine in 6 months than I did on any other bike in one year.

Outside of that, try increasing your momentum. It wears you down less, allowing you to run faster later in the race when others start to fade.

The easiest way to illustrate is to walk around the outside and then walk around the inside.

"Too many variables for a statement like that..."

That's where the 5% comes in.

someone said brake later then get on the gas earlier.... true, but its sometimes more technical then that. (im one of the most technical kids out there, i always find tiny lipsover lips and better lines then the person im racing with)

yet, if its really rough. get on the brakes early. hold it about quarter throttle before the choppy stuff and skim over the top of it and then roll the throttle on through the corner, dont be the goon that just PINS it from nothing, my friend is beginner and he kept falling in corners because he kept going from no throttle to BRAP! then high siding

i think moto 24/7 all day everyday since i was 11, i have OCD and think about moto all the time. i study it.

I was thinking this could possibly be a good thread if people post small, simple, easy to do tips, to improve lap times...

For example, last week I was going through a set of whoops (2-stroke may have had something to do with it) and my rear end was swapping out left and right a little bit. One lap when I was entering the whoops I remembered some TV announcer talking about shifting up a gear before you enter the whoops. Well, I tried it and it worked.

Knowledge seems like a great tool for improving lap times. So if you have some knowledge/tips, like weighting the outside footpegs in corners, feel free to share them.
how did i guess you were going to say that?

STFU NOOB!!!!!
