If Vince did in fact tell JB that he was just jealous because he's better than him, that is a next-level page out of the Alessi infused delusional fantasy playbook. That takes some balls to say that to a guy that has likely out earned him by 30x (on the low end), has ridden for numerous factory teams, has won at the highest level, has apparently done a lot for the well being of that very MCR team, is a class act and someone that basically EVERYONE likes inside the industry and out. Friese is someone that almost everyone hates and it's a gift that keeps on giving at this point on the entertainment and media side. Bummer for JB, but he will always get the last laugh in life over a guy like that. It's only a matter of time before someone pulls a Peick on him again, and it'll be glorious.
The Alessi delusion is REAL, and it can't be a coincidence Vince is so closely tied to them.
This kind of delusion isn't confined to our tiny sport; professional athletes have a tendency to have an incredibly narrow perspective on the "real" world. They have been catered to and enabled most of their lives.
Just because Vince isn't a championship guy doesn't mean he's a working-class hero, he's lived in the same bubble as a top-tier moto athlete.
Just my opinion, but in his head what he said in those post-race interviews should just be believed, because why not? In his world he's THE guy, so everyone will just take his word for it.
Guys like Vince haven't been in a working environment where they are the apprentice or the new guy, so the whole "know your place" thing is a foreign concept to them.
It says a lot about his character, in my opinion; because there are plenty of guys who have been in that same environment but seem to have a grasp of the real world and it's inherent order....AC for example, and even Brayton.
Until there are REAL consequences for BS like this, the cycle will continue.

There are some undeniable similarities that seem to have spilled over. It's a specialized mental "training program." I don't have anything against the Alessi's, it seems like Tony has done a good job building that team up overall, minus some of these recurring PR issues with the long standing rider. But listening to Mike's long form podcast on the whiskey throttle show a few months back... ouch. Them kids are just different cats. If you didn't know any better, you'd think he was battling Stewart, RV and Dungey tooth and nail down to the wire for numerous titles for 10yrs and was just one little break away from being MX immortality after listening to it. I guess we all see the world differently, clearly the current rider on that team does too.

Couldn't agree more about his Whiskey Throttle podcast, unreal how delusional and disconnected he is.
I also agree about Tony, his riders love him, but man its hard to root for that team or him after things like this.

Heck, even NASCAR suspended their poster child for a race over endangering another driver. Granted, if any other driver had done the same thing there would have been a much harsher penalty plus a fine but the fact that they gave the Chosen One a suspension at all should be evidence that the FIM should impose some combination of suspension/fine/penalty on a non top tier rider for doing what VF did.

based on the FIM's speed of handling issues in the sport, I'm sure they'll investigate this in '26. Until then, carry on... In all seriousness, Friese...

In all seriousness, Friese will say "It was a joke for crying out loud!" and nobody will be able to prove differently. Totally shitty situation though and speaks volumes of 1. how frustrated JB is and 2. what a douche canoe VF is....
Some things you can’t claim to be a joke and expect those in authority to accept it. He would never do that anyway because it’s admitting he said it. He will deny until he’s blue in the face. Imagine anyone but Brayton when the guy is sitting there saying you’re a baby because I’m a better rider. I think some guys would be facing murder charges. There is no “two sides” to this. We have a guy who was offered $2,000 to take out Brayton and is telling people it happened. If MCR has any moral fiber, Friese will be looking for a new ride. He offers zero return on investment other than to the 10 or so fans that will still defend him. It’s time Mr. Genova.

Welcome to cancel culture America. Where no one waits for the facts or to hear both sides, just immediately jump to conclusions. Maybe Honda and MCR are diligently piecing together the facts to make a proper decision.

And playing other side, I have jokingly told friends I am going to take them out on the start. Vince can likely use that as his defense, no contracts were signed for the said $2,000, He can say it was all a friendly rivalry joke...or he can say Harlan made it up.
Contracts lmfao! Cancel culture are the ones who want crimes to go unpunished which your take sounds a bit too much like. What’s wrong with cancel culture is they go after people who did nothing wrong, they just decided they don’t like it. Vince clearly did something very very wrong here and there’s no defending it. Harlan didn’t just decide to make this up. And if you still want to give Friese the benefit of the doubt, that’s something you need to take up with your own self.

It's a shame because that team is important and we need them around, but something has to give here pretty soon. Not to keep harping on the Alessi guys, but I remember the Summer of 2004 they were up here in MN for quite a while riding and racing at local tracks here and we went over to their pit at a small local race where they had a table set up with their own posters signing autographs. They were so awkward and were essentially emotionless robots just autographing these little posters (I probably still have it somewhere) and it was odd to see at that age. But I'm sure it's all they knew and was just part of the daily meat grinder they were in away from a lot of the societal realities we were involved in as teenagers.

There are just so many odd similarities in the way Friese's interviews, expressions, style and outlooks mirror a vibe I got as a 15yr old kid getting an autograph from the two Alessi brothers in 2004 (that were confirmed over the next 10+ yrs). Mike does seem like a nice guy though, to be fair, even if I think his views of his own career and other riders careers are a bit out there. I'm guessing it was awkward for them to be signing posters for random people at age 16 at a local race in MN, too.

On the other hand, I actually find Tony's interviews and some pods he's done on Pulp to be very insightful and interesting, he's a pretty well spoken guy with a ton of knowledge. I hope that team continues on with it's best foot forward for the sake of the sport and the jobs they provide.

Actually that would be VF-3
You know like all the great No.3’s - Ward, Tomac, Friese.
