Don't forget Heath Voss!

I missed the part in the articles where they said it was Kenny’s idea to make this only two races and call it a world championship. Can someone link that here?

Yet they call everything a world series etc.
Even the new smx. Yet all the races are in the us.
Not "All" the Americans are complaining. There's a number on here staunchly defending Feld on what they see as an attack on the US sport of SX.

If you're a nail . . . everything is a hammer.

There's some Americans who like racing more than they like the guys or companies who run racing. Some might like to see racers other than the usual suspects having a go and getting a result. There are however, some who are freaked out by a ramp and a track built over a lower parking level rather that being impressed by the work-around.

Which is sad because the Americans invented MacGyver. And shared his stories. They also created Chuck Norris. He would not be concerned about a ramp. Good thing he didn't race this year. He would have swept the podium in every event on a bike MacGyver fixed with a paper clip.

MXGP does not dilute US MX. WSX will not dilute US SX. WSX/FIM will grow the sport in the MOSTLY UNTAPPED markets in terms of spectator and competitor participation. This will give more riders more opportunities to earn some better money doing this exciting sport.

This was a startup year. A Pilot Series. Good ol' Chad said that at the end of the night. I think they should have settled down a bit with the World Championship term being repeated, but hey, Kenny seemed to like the trophy. And you can only race whoever bothers to turn up.

The time zone complaints are valid and you can blame the earth for being a sphere. I know, I got up really early to watch EVERY US RACE in 2022.

And I watched all the AUS-X and WSX events. 100% viewing record.

The broadcast was utter....trash. Terrible team in the booth. The fender cams are straight out of 1990 vhs quality. Slo mo replays while missing the racing. Replays on top of that, I bet 30% at least of the racing was missed.

Let's hope it gets better.

Why don’t you take a 2nd look at the metal ramp and realize it can’t be rolled. I was on them from the beginning asking why a metal ramp. It may have injured Derek Kelly when he hit it with a flat. My guess is they wanted to skimp on the amount of dirt it would take to build a big finish line jump. I never expected the landing mound to be all scaffolding with dirt on top either! Wtf?

2. It was Derek Drake.
3. He came off the dragons back endoing. Went sideways of the jump face. Metal or dirt it was no different.
Sorry I just watched the video of guys “rolling it”. Their wheels left the ground snd they landed on a flat. Not doing a double isn’t “”rolling it”. As usual people will just say anything to defend whatever it is they want to defend.

Technically it was 6 races, 3 at a time.

And there really WAS a quad.

Agreed.

Which is why it's going to fail. It's not a real World championship without the best riders in the world.

On that theory is World Superbike not a proper series because it doesn't have the best riders in the world (motogp riders).

Worldsx should be embraced and looked at the same way WorldSBK and MotoGP are. This will give avenues for international riders to put Infront of the American media and teams. I can see guys showing something in worldsx and getting rides in ama supercross out of it. Same way guys come up through worldsbk and then cross over to motogp and on the other side when guys don't get rides in motogp the have another avenue to race at the highest level (Remi Gardner in 2023 going to worldsbk after not getting a motogp ride.) This is a good thing not a bad thing.
That’s a great comparison. But World Superbike will always be a step below motogp. Manufacturers are not interested in Superbike like they were years ago. They would rather spend money in motorgp which has a larger fan base and tv package. Same thing is going to happen with supercross. Manufacturers don’t have the budget to spend in both series.

The fender cams are really bad. I was a little surprised the broadcast team didn’t drop them for the Australia round. It’s a great idea, but the quality isn’t there. The rest of it I didn’t mind so much. You gotta start somewhere. It’ll get better.

I know they want this whole WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP moniker and I'm actually fine with it and hope it does well for some extra racing for the fans.

however, it's so cringey that they did this "crowning of KR" narrative on a 2 race series. They should have just said that this was the warm up 2-race exhibition to show you how kick-ass next year will be when they start the full series to crown the 1st EVER WORLD CHAMPION in a multi-race series.

Then, all of us would have taken this without the giggles and said "Meh, might be cool for next year!" but instead we all have just chuckled at it and made fun of it, rightfully so.

My .02 that nobody asked for !

Fully agree!

Your idea on positioning it as a 2-race exhibition of things to come next year would have made it less 'cringe'.

Had he showed up for spectacle 2, we'd be laughing about him as "World SX Champion".

This is not a slam on Eli at all. There was no competition....even against KR.

I'd be willing to wager Eli did not want that "Title", knowing it is completely empty.

Thinking about starting my own World Championship series and only letting a few guys that dont really even ride anymore Join . The races themselves will be a wild card. Could be 10 races or it could be 2 ? In the end no matter what i will be the new World Champion . This is going to be Big.

You mean like 5-6 races without any venues tied up….they’re saying 8-9 rounds starting in July…we’ll see…
