I was trying to remember what broadcast he was on. Was it Motoworld? He was quite the character and I enjoyed his antics. He was affiliated with or started FAQU Racing. Everyone seems so serious these days and we need a little more fun on broadcasts.

ESPN commentator, I believe, back when that network was smaller. Motoworld was Larry Maiers.

He was just on Jimmy Lewis podcast tech talk taco Tuesday. Still sounds wild with good stories.

I knew Larry was the main one on Motoworld. I just thought he was involved, but I think you are right about ESPN.

I watched some old ESPN races on YouTube where he was pit reporting with no shirt on, it was loose back in the day.

I remember him from back in the day. I thought he was entertaining, for sure. He was pretty cool.

Bevo Forte has some stories of Jerry! Just listened to the Bevo interview on Whisky Throttle Show and he mentions Bernardo / his drinking prowess.

Had the chance to meet him a few times at a couple nationals and was super cool to talk to.

He was a colorful guy for sure!

I think that "prowess" you mention might have helped lead to his demise. It is my understanding the last event he did was a AMA Hall of Fame introduction one year and after the TV gigs slowed down, and I think he was a bit aggressive with his commentary. It was a long time ago though, but I remember it being kind of his last event in the dirt bike business. Maybe around 2010 or so. He now lives in Australia.

Fah-Q is still going here and there, kinda like Moto XXX.

I ordered a Tommy Norton Tee Shirt when he was doing them, but the order got messed up and it the nothing ever shipped. He gave me a refund, so that was fine, but I was bummed!

Motoworld was awesome back in the day, I remember as a kid being glued to the TV when it came on to see the SX/MX results.

I can still hear his accent... At the time, he drove me nuts. LOL Fast forward to now, I appreciate his unfiltered style.

One year in the mid 90's at Kenworthys he was next to me at the Stairway to Heaven jumps. We were bullshitting a bit and he tells me to watch when Metzger came around. He talked to him before the race and told him to style it over those jumps. He was whipping huge and throwing Can-Cans and heel clickers. He was taking pictures and I was messing with him and said some joke about him having a big nose getting in the way of the camera. His response made me laugh my butt off and I still remember it. He said "You know what they say, Big nose, Big hose."

Jerry’s beginnings were in NETRA riding hard scrambles. On the start line one would yell “FAH!” And somewhere down the line someone else would respond “Q!” like an ancient war cry. I believe Mark Kariya of Dirt Rider at the time was staying with Kevin Hines and attended a hare scramble and Jerry introduced himself and a star was born. FAH-Q would race with various doll heads, arms and whatever else zip-tied to their bikes and bodies. Hellion will probably check in here seeing the FAH-Q de facto leader being mentioned. At one race Tommy Norton came driving in an old brown Cadillac and Jerry without missing a beat did a handstand on the hood while it was moving went over and his feet went through the windshield. He came walking over to where I stood and said “the bitch is that’s my car”. Never be another like him.

I loved watching Motoworld in high school. Went to my first national at hangtown in 96 or 97 I was 14-15 saw Jerry and asked him to sign my bald head. He said I’ll sign your cock and started laughing. The 90s were wild lol

Dude was wide open all the time.

I did some announcing down at the mini os and winter ams in the late 80's and he was down to shot some bits for the show for when it was slow during the winter.

We were talking using a wireless mic and got some feedback.

He grabs his ears and starts screaming and turns and runs away, screaming the entire time until he gets a couple hundred feet away. Then he turns and comes walking back like nothing ever happened.

Good or bad, he was unique.

Did anyone else read this entire thread in a thick New England accent, or was it just me?

Maybe JT$ will take his shirt off next outdoor season for his pit report. Hard cut for it!
