Marv crushed that race. The body language, scrubbing, pushing the bike down into the gaps made it seem he was the only one that knew had to race - not just ride - the track.
It was weird seeing Kenny getting outright bested in two straight races. Yes it was raining, but I think the rain was on both sides of the track....

I posted a little while ago about Marv being one of the guys I really really really would have like to have seen what his career is like if we stayed two strokes... He's so damn good, I think he'd have won a lot more.

Thanks Mav. Looks like it's GEO restricted for US.

It's supposed to be available for replay on there, but I guess they won't unlock it for the US until later tomorrow or who knows when.

Isn’t it on ESPN tomorrow? Probably after it plays on ESPN. It could be unlocked for the United States?
Yeah, it re-airs tomorrow on ESPN, so that's probably why it's still locked.

It's a little odd considering it wasn't a problem in previous years.

the cool thing about watching this race is that it removes the factor of turn speed and really shows how good the top guys are compared to guys who only make night shows. the gaps the tops guys pulled just in rhythm sections by being clean over ever jump is amazing

I agree, with a "Yeah, but" exception. I think it showcases the sprinters. They consistently rip #1 gate pick and record tons of heat wins. Best pure technician's on the track. Yeah. But Main or 30+2 wins take more than that.

Just a quick word to say how much -as always- I enjoyed this fast and fun event!
Barcia vs Webb and Hansen vs Hill were especially exciting to watch -man, that quad/quad was impressive!
Too bad the rain spoiled a bit the last runs and totally messed Roczen's starts, but overall, I had a great time!
Kudos to the invincible Musquin -getting the best of Roczen was no easy task- and to a very spectacular Carson Brown.
Wayyyy better moment than, well, you know who, where and when, lol...

So Marvins problem in SX is lack of corner speed or fitness, jumps he can do clearly.

M. Kong,

J'ai du mal à croire que vous accordiez à Marvin le moindre respect.

Félicitations!

Peut-être qu'il y a de l'espoir pour vous après tout. Grinning 👏

All I can say is we need more high visibility 2-stroke events with top players like this.

Can't believe it rained....lol

I’d like to see more of this RBSR . How about a series of three . How about separate lanes one direction, a 180 turn , no lane restrictions back to the finish ?

Thx I watched it lastnight just south of dc. I
Was exhausted so I skipped the last 5+ min and checked the post to see who won. Kenny Looked Great but Marv worked the bike with his legs so good I thought he would win. Carson Brown was Great too working the bike with his legs and pushing it down, little brake taps in there, Good stuff. So many Great races I,LL watch again.

I've only viewed the finals ( forgot it was on on the US Saturday[?], not the US Sunday) and have only had a quick squizz at the pages in this thread, so:

I noticed the Full Black strip of textured(?) Runway on the LH start ( from the riders perspective) , and the white / black/ grey strip on the RH start. I've only seen it on a relatively small screen, so I couldn't make out if that multi coloured strip had the same texture as the full black one.

I may have imagined it, but there seemed to be more wheelspin on the RH strip.

It seemed strange that such a well funded event would have what it appears to be, a differing start strip from side to side, before dropping off.

As I wrote, I've only viewed the finals, so I may well have missed 'them' addressing the differences in earlier parts of the event broadcast.

Nobody had anything on Marv. Madskills-esque riding from him, i have never seen anyone push through and gain speed through jumps like that.

Marv’s style is much less scrub dependent and more about using the legs to soak up things. Basically a continuation of the same stuff McGrath started. I think it’s awesome and shows that being a scrub master isn’t the only way to stay low these days.

He was racing through the transitions and pre-soaking obstacles with his legs, going long when he could etc.

Quite incredible really, so good to watch.

The rain threw Kenny off his game for sure. But he was the fastest with a dry track. They even shouldn't have ran in the rain. Its for fun, not for a championship. No idea why they couldn't wait 20 mins for the rain to pass. Weather app had the rain almost gone by the time they finished.. Very dumb to rush an event with a muddy track when there is no time constraint. RedBull still throws an event better than FIM.

Some of Kenny’s scrubs were awesome, but the single most stylish move I saw was Marv manualling rhythm landings. His front wheel wasn’t even touching the ground until hitting the next upramp. So cool.
