From a marketing standpoint it makes much more sense than going to Katar or Argentina e.g.
Vietnam produces 3 million bikes per year, which is 2.8 million more than the US btw.

Especially when it's a country that has a huge motorcycle culture and is developing rapidly. Motocross might be huge there in 2040. The benefits of holding a GP there won't be seen for a couple decades, but they will be seen at some point. Just my opinion

My point is that MXGP is not going to Vietnam so that Beta can gain market share in 5hp scooters. It's also not going there so that Tim Gasjer can prove he's the champion of the world by beating the vaunted Ho Duk Nguyen. Just beause people ride scooters to work doesnt mean they suddenly want to huck a 450 160 ft.

MXGP is going there because the govt is paying for it. And it's going there because Europeans believe that Europeans racing Europeans in an exotic location instead of in Europe is what proves that somebody is a world champion.

Mostly what they ride are scooters and small displacement street bikes. Typically made at a se Asia plant. Not that they don't have higher end models. But usually massively taxed only the very wealthy would buy. Taxed to where you could easily buy a car.
