In the Quad vs. triple argument thread, someone mentioned that tabletops identify as anything they want, and it made me laugh. It got me thinking, though: "What do I feel are the axioms of motocross?"
In other words, what things are universal truths to me that might be viewed differently by other riders?

So I'll start off with my simple truths. Please list yours as well. This thread is not for arguing; simply for stating the bases from which you derive all your motocross opinions. Here are the MX axioms, according to Falcon:

-Seat Bouncing is a real thing.
-Three jumps is a triple. It takes four mounds of dirt of any kind to be a quad.
-Two strokes truck, four strokes suck.
-Block passes, throwing elbows, and contact are OK. Intentional takeouts are not.

THIS!! I've noticed that more often the past year or so. Drives me nuts haha. You either got the holeshot or you didn't. I'm glad someone else has brought this up.

I'll give it a go...

- Seat bouncing is a real thing but not in the way Teefus was arguing it...
- If a rhythm has a single, then table-top, then a single...and the table can be used as a on-off or a full landing, it can be considered a quad.
- Only people arguing what is and isn't a quad are the guys not even doing them.
- Two strokes, four strokes, electric, pedal power, etc are all fun. None suck, they all have their time..place and enjoyment factor.
- Wheelie boys are horrendous for our sport / industries reputation and look.
- More races for pros to race is a good thing. If they don't want to do all of them, then they can make that choice.
- Vice champion just means you were second place...just say you were second place. You're not a champion.
- Social media (IG, Twitter, and Facebook) comment sections for any sport, politics, or religion is just a waste of valuable time on this earth. Laughing

Price and accessibility wise, motocross is becoming corporate and will soon be similar to F1 and other motorsports: spectator only.

I don’t think so. Go to any track out here on any weekend and it’s packed, not everyone needs a brand new bike to go have fun on the local track. Sport is far from a spectator sport, most of the people at nationals are people that ride themselves

Just because you prefer another brand of motorcycle, it doesn’t mean all the others are shit and a waste of money.

I agree with almost everything you say but I can't get behind ignoring the fact that a Single- Table- Single has 4 options. Same as a Single- Single- Single- Single, same distance. Look at a track map and measure. Not someone having to draw multiple sketches on a napkin or something to prove their point.

What verbiage would you use to describe each option that this presents?

Step on- Step off. 1+1+1+1= 4. Period. Hill I'm willing to die on. Smile

More curious where you stand on Oxford Comma's... lol

Disagree.

Things must be different in CA I guess. Around here, i talk to people on a weekly basis that no longer want to allocate 15% of their income on a hobby.

2 stroke or 4 stroke is better than one over the other.

PED's should be allowed.
Axle Hodges has more talent than half the riders in a SX main event
Carmichael is the worst announcer ever.
Pala is a gnarlier track than, say, thunder valley.
Pro quad riders are faster than 99% of this forum's members.

The 80s was the high point in motocross.
Four-strokes are more boring to watch than two-strokes, but I'll still watch.
The RM250 was the best two-stroke mx bike ever made.
There is too much Monster Energy promotion in the sport.
Blowing up bikes after winning championships sucks.

This is not a thread to argue, so I don't even want to start stating my points. We can just disagree about the quad.

However, since both my parents were English teachers, and I take much of my instruction from them, I prefer the Oxford comma. It just makes sense to me.
For example, there is a YZ250, two RM85s, and a PW50 in my garage. Cool Wink

1. Bubba didn't invent the scrub, but he owns it.

2. The 1981 RM-125 was the best year-to-year improvement of any bike in MX history.

3. Motocross is the ultimate test of man (or woman), machine, speed, and fitness.

4. Mad respect for Supercross skill set, but doing SX-only in your prime is weak.

5. Hannah was the toughest SOB of all time on the track.

6. On a motocross track, Ricky consistently beats any rider in history. (including Hannah).

7. Time spent with my father during my racing career is priceless.

Fair enough. I'd consider this a discussion. Sorry if you felt as if it were an argument. My question was to help me have a better understanding of your theory on the triple. I've read a few examples of why it's a quad. Those make sense. I haven't come across anything about a triple that has any logic behind it. You seem like a pretty logical guy and if you were able to convey why it's a triple I'd have no problem accepting that and changing my stance.

My neighbors couldn't believe that I would change the oil in our bikes without starting them first. That's probably my hottest take. Cold oil changes lol

For anybody on the fence on the Oxford comma:

"I was in the car with my girlfriend, a hairdresser and a mass murderer."

Do you you need to break up with the girlfriend or not?

Jumps are ranked based on how many faces you can case it on:

no faces ... its a single
one face ...its a double
two faces ... its a triple
three faces ... its a quad

a table top is a single

sinlge-table-single is a triple

etc
