I have previous gen Aussie 450s. Just not the newest 23 gen. So with all the stuff going on with the newest platform, I am holding on to my current stuff there for the track until the 24s come out.

However, I want to add another bike to my arsenal for a fun build, and for some reason building a sick RMZ just seems “fun”.

I could race it sometimes on track days. Buy a supermoto kit for city rips. No matter what a clean, all yellow RMZ just looks so good. Who cares if it’s a little plump.

At this point in my life, buying new bikes should be more about enjoyment than race competitiveness, plus my FC 450 is still the same as the current GG platform.

Someone talk me out of it. Or into it…

Bikes don't suck. The person riding it is the one who sucks.

Your post history is literally 99% shitting on Suzuki or talking shit to Sandusky for liking Suzuki. Insane. I bet you don’t even race.

The fact that everyone bandwagons on them negatively for sport these days has me wanting to do it out of spite.

I'm guessing some guy who owns an RMZ stole his girlfriend... (or more likely a chick he had a crush on but was afraid to ask her out)

It takes a special kind of neuroticism to constantly go after Suzuki like that. Truly.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing... even though I've owned two rmz450s and can objectively understand that they aren't as good as my current bike.

Sounds like a lot of work to gain a couple horsepower.

I’m deeply considering it. I rode a new 23 KTM 450 recently and was not really motivated to want to go spend 13k on what I feel is a slightly faster engine, but overall worse handling bike compared to my 21 FC, which I fucking love.

If I could only have 1 bike or if I needed to have two of the same bike for serious pro racing then whatever. But I am 39 now, I have money, and I like to take on fun projects.

Isn’t this what Moto is all about as you enter your prime vet years?

If there was a real Suzuki factory team paying comparable dollars to the other top tier seats, we’d see the RMZ have some good finishes. Marshall Weltin got a top 10 outdoors on this bike.

When JGR had decent support they had better riders and higher placing finishes. Chad put it on the box just 2 years ago and it was against this same KX and GG platform that is out now.

If Dylan, Chase, Jett, etc got on a full factory RMZ, then still probably win races. And if they did that, all the fair weather nerds would be back to buying an RMZ, no matter the kick starter.

Put Eli or Chase on an RMZ and they would win. Any of the bikes made today are perfectly capable with the right tuning/setup/go faster daddy goodies.

Those who think they are superior because of a brand name... self-delusion is a wonderful marketing tool.

It is a good read 😂

Still a daaaaamn good looking bike and still faster than I could ever hope to be.

The return of big rebates on other brands and the price of the CRF 450 R-S staying friendly (like Manny posted earlier) may be a hurdle though.

Imagine paying $9,000+ for a 2018.

Of course, they release the new one revealing it still has a kickstarter less than a week after Kenny takes a full minute to get his kicked over, lol.

"Legendary rider Ken Roczen proved the RM-Z450 remains the champion’s choice. The RM-Z450’s sleek, race-ready appearance, strong engine, and nimble chassis provide the effective power and precise handling required to continue Suzuki’s race-winning legacy. It is no surprise Roczen finished the just-concluded AMA Supercross season tied for third in the championship with an event win and multiple podium finishes."

Breaking news: Someone at Suzuki is actually aware thet Roczen has been racing on their bike.

Not the greatest marketing ploy, is it?

"Our bike looks pretty good, and owing to the fact that it's a 450, has a lot of power. In fact, our winning legacy isn't completely dead and buried just yet, because we managed to eke out one more victory this season thanks to the absolutely phenomenal rider, Ken Roczen. You could almost draw the conclusion that our bike is 3rd best, except we're actually tied."

I love Suzuki. I sure hope they have something up their sleeve, but I really don't think they do.
