Noticed in this picture JL has the previous generation CRF shock on his bike (compression adjuster on left side) and what appears to be OEM Showa forks.

Of course maybe this is just his “Hold Up” suspension… But why would they use such an odd shock choice? Does a 2020 CRF450R shock even fit the new generation CRF without modification? 🤔🤷‍♂️

I don't know the answer but perhaps he's using his 250 suspension?

I thought the same but that shock isn’t from a current generation CRF250R either… adjusters on the wrong side.

Go check his build thread and you’ll see how he can notice this stuff. Dudes a wizard.

Honda must have discovered that an old shock on a new frame aligns the planets, creates world peace, and allows meaningful communication between all living things, from extraterrestrial beings down to ordinary house plants. It's also bound to shave a half second off his laptimes.

Always cool to me how guys can point this kind of stuff out. Ive been around dirt bikes since I was born and I could never pic that out.

What does the shock Sexton switched to outdoors look like? Perhaps that’s what he’s running?

They Probably just have it on to move/transport the bike around. I'm sure they keep the good stuff in a fancy gun case

looks like production forks as well so maybe it is just “hold up” stuff

Evans has the 113. You didn't notice the name Lawrence on the plastics? Laughing

That would be weird if Evan's bike said "Jett" on the front fender and "Lawrence" on the radiator shroud

Isn’t that a “Big Piston” shock that’s made for the new bike?

Ha ha, was looking at the bike components and didn’t even notice the graphics, Also thrown by this photo tagging Evans but I now see it has Jett on the front guard too. Doh!

It’s hold up suspension to roll the bike around with. Their race stuff just arrived mid-day today at their hotel (heard them talking about it while I was around their tent).

The shock on Jett's bike is not the Showa BFRC. The BFRC is a completely different design. Also the BFRC shock does not have the adjuster on the left side of the bike (at least for the current generation CRF's)

Here is a couple of pictures of different generation Showa BFRC shocks. They all share a common trait; The Compression/Rebound adjuster is located in one location and uses slot head screws.

The picture of Jett's bike is NOT showing the backend of the reservoir like you would see with the BFRC. IMHO, sure looks like a shock that was fitted to previous generation CRF's.

Interested to see if that's the actual shock he's going to use for the race!

Well there you go! Thanks Michael, mystery solved.... still want to know why they are using two year old (wrong generation) shock? 😂🤷‍♂️ Why would that shock even be in the race rig?!

Thanks again ML512 👍
