The silencer looks rough for sure but the rest of the bike is not reached like that. She has about 25 hours on her now so not showroom condition but well taken care of.

The question I posed regarding bar mounts twisting easily was before I had ever swung a leg over the bike.

I'm not the guy that rides all out of control. I usually have a get off or 2 a season but I would think that's par for the course for most people that ride hard and put 60+ hours on their scoot.

Maybe I am whacking the silencer with my boot somehow? It's just odd that its never been an issue previous to this bike.
Keefer has talked about it in some podcasts about the muffler denting really easily without crashing. It’s probably your boot heels.

The 21-22 450 and 22 250 has a really thin silencer sleeve, dents will happen for most people even without crashing. This has been updated for the 2023 models.

What happened there?
Not sure actually. Was from a cross country, I did lay it over a few times but nothing stood out to me that would result in this damage.

I thought I had listened to most of Keefer's podcasts on these new Hondas but do not recall hearing that.

Thank you!

Interesting.

Do you think the part number would change then? I just compared the '22 versus the '23 and it is the same for the muffler body.

If you are going to replace the stock muffler why not go with a Pro Circuit or Yoshimura slip on? The price would probably be the same or less. When it comes to four stroke exhaust, the muffler will give you more gains than the header pipe, so just go with one of those slip ons. You will get a power gain, they sound better than stock also look better and lighter.

That's what I originally planned on but I really couldn't find any available.

Hi. Pro Circuit has had low inventory for quite a while. Try calling Yoshimura direct, sometimes they have them in stock but don’t post them. I called asking when they would get more full exhaust systems in and she said there were a couple sitting next to her in the office. She said sometimes they hold a few back for call in customers. Maybe they will give you a answer on availability if out of stock for a slip on. Good luck

Okay that is really strange. You might want to use Google Translate but the Finnish Honda lists a thicker more durable silencer as one of the updates for the 2023 450, i'd assume the same for the 250: https://www.hondabikes.fi/mallisto/2022-2023-uutuudet/crf450r-50th-anni…

I think you have it backwards. Slip ons don't really do much but alter the noise. The head pipe is where the extra power comes from.

You might be right. A friend of mine works at a motorcycle shop, I’m only going on what he told me.

I recall a couple of years back when KTM and Husqvarna released there limited edition half year models the Husqvarna came with a FMF canister and the KTM came with a Akrapovic canister. Both bikes same motor and header pipe the Husqvarna had a little more life in power tester said the canister was the difference between the two bikes. A mechanic or engine builder can answer this.

How is everyone doing durability wise? Looking to see how they’re holding up with some hours on them. One of my buddies had issues with the water pump at 20ish hours.

Not really , most head pipes are good it's the muffler holding it back

I have a brand new one that I would sell. How much are you thinking? Also, do you want the stock header?

To set tps with vortex is simple, Throttle closed hold kill switch & hit starter for 2 seconds repeat with throttle wide open .

After this you still get the 8 blinks? Will it start? Disconnect battery for a minute reconnect & try again.

If this fails reinstall stock ecu .Still get 8 blinks?
Yes I still get the 8 blinks after, but I'll try the battery and stock ecu tomorrow

Fault codes are Vortex specific and not necessarily the same as how they are listed in the OE manuals.

Check your literature that came with the ECU in the box or contact XPR regarding the TPS set up.
It is possible the TPS end-point setting adjustment via the kill button is not enabled on yours.
Good Luck.
I’m having issues with my 22 250 shutting or or bogging out when landing on the throttle. It’s got a port polish and high comp piston. I have a vortex ecu installed but was having this issue prior to the vortex. Would you happen to think a TPS sensor fault?

Same plastics, same chassis, yet the 250 just looks better than the 450. Idk why.

Just picked up my 2023, coming off a 2021 yz250f. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but the build quality on these things is pretty amazing, aside from the foot pegs and chain I am very impressed. I will keep you guys updated on my thoughts although it will probably be more of the same because the bike is unchanged. Also if anyone is trying to get rid of some parts let me know!
