Lake Mead levels has me wondering if there's any imminent danger to track watering in the west.

Lake Tahoe's lowest level in recorded history was 6,220 feet in 1992 November. It is currently at 6,223 feet. Barring unusual weather, it is highly likely it will pass the lowest ever levels this year.

Of course, being a natural basin a mile in depth that fills and only seasonally drains into the Truckee River when it is overfull, as APLMAN99 stated, it wouldn't historically see really any highly visible shifts in lake level.

You do understand that Tahoe, as a natural basin, only has about a 15 ft of range from "Full" to "Empty" (The Truckee River is bone dry) right? Fortunately, 15 ft over the surface area the size of of Tahoe is a SHIT TON of water. But it is at historical "empty" right now, not full. There are multiple boat ramps closed due to historically low water levels even though you were able to capture some nice tourist snaps.

Because the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. Looking at climate change through an extremely narrow 20 year window (or even 1000 year window) is patently absurd, foolish and idiotic.

There have been 5 ice ages. The geologic period saw major heat spikes. Other major heat spikes occurred during the Cretaceous Hot Greenhouse and the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum periods.

The Earth warms, and it cools. Yeah, we idiot humans are probably having an impact on the climate but Earth's long history laughs at the arrogance of suggesting we're somehow dramatically changing it.

Yep, Tahoe may look full but it's low right now. Like you said many boat ramps closed or limited to launching smaller boats.

There have been massive developments on high salinity RO membranes where the membrane pumping pressure is greatly reduced, plus pumps are usually energy recovery pumps. Its not all that difficult or expensive anymore. Again, no excuses not to desal.

Yeah I live in Vegas and was surprised at how little we actually use the water compared to California which uses the overwhelming majority of it. I really don’t understand at all why desalination isn’t a thing in California. Many countries practice it and use it very effectively. It would solve quite a few problems.

Like many others, I can't stand the political environment which causes a few of those major issues you mentioned. Most people I know here can't stand it either but we are outnumbered. Hopefully the tide will turn some day as people will realize this can't continue. Beaches don't get filthy on their own, it's scummy people who weren't taught to pickup their trash. I've been picking up their trash on beaches for years. They're scumballs who drive in from out of town on the weekends like most tourist areas. Yes, gas prices and traffic sucks. But that said, SoCal is an amazing place to live. I can ride moto and surf the same day. I can snowboard and surf the same day. Weather is great year round with low humidity. Little to no insects/mosquitos is a big one. Tons of great trail riding and several good tracks. Baja has tons of good surf and riding. I can be at my favorite riding spot pictured below faster than I can drive to Vegas. Scuba Dive in Catalina or fish for tuna. Ass everywhere. The list goes on. It's definitely not cheap though, you gotta be able to afford the California tax. LA is an absolute shit hole and unfortunately San Francisco has become one too, only because of poor policy.

Many here are not the type of clown California is known for. I'm not an electric car guy. I drive Diesels and an old Impala. I use my Dual Sport if I need to deal with summer traffic. I own several firearms. I'll stay here unless the politicians make it unbearable. Backup plan is Central America or somewhere on a ranch near rivers, lakes, and trails.
