Printed team championship number 1 shirts

I always wonder this around season end where there’s more than one guy in the title hunt. Especially this year when it’s been so close, HRC must have had Sexton number 1 shirts printed for the team to wear on the podium. What do they do with these shirts when it doesn’t work out? Quickly burn them out the back of the truck before the rider gets back?

And has anyone on here managed to get a number 1 shirt that never was?

A very interesting question. I’d love to see an image of the #1 shirt/jersey that was made for Chase. I bet they were kept pretty guarded though.

Recycled rags that mechanic shops and a business like that buy . I seen a lot of cool new interesting shirts in those recycled shirt rag bags lol

I wonder if they print those shirts too for the guy that’s 48 points down going into the last round. Has there ever been a champion that was so not expected that they didn’t have championship shirts?

Don't they usually send them to poor countries where clothing is hard to come by? I'm pretty sure that's what the big leagues like the NFL, MLB, NBA etc do.

I remember seeing a magazine article about an mx t-shirts collector.
His rarest ones were title celebrating shirts for guys who actually didn't get the title...

So it's 99% chance that Jo and Hunter never had anything made.

There was an authentic Bradshaw #1 AXO jersey on eBay a few years ago that fetched big money.

I’ve seen a Troy Bayliss 2002 WSBK Champion shirt… only problem is Edwards won the championship that year. Sometime afterwards Troy gave him one of the shirts for a laugh.

For major sports like NFL they are collected and sent overseas to areas of need.

Just think of all the kids overseas that grew up in the late 80's wearing "Cleveland Browns AFC Champions" shirts.

This right here. For football and other major sports there are thousands of shirts at the ready to be sold right away but moto they probably only have 50 shirts for the team and hangers on.

Was going to say the same thing, stick and ball sports send them to other countries usually. Now it would be sweet to have a number 1 helmet like Eli had, even if he lost.

I believe this is the gear AXO printed up for his 1992 SX Championship that never happened.

Printing on t shirts is pretty easy, maybe they had a machine ready to go to print 50 or so shirts real quick. I'm sure it would take less than 20 min

I believe when Cianciarulo almost won the 250 east championship in 2017 (the crazy Osborne/Savatgy race), him or the team is on record saying they didn't even have championship swag for him.

Yeah, not sure how often the guy in 3rd going in has stuff made up to celebrate. But you would think with a mathematical chance they would have had something made. Mitch could have just pulled something out of a drawer from his past championships I guess. Or just given him Joey's swag that year.

I had one that read “James Dobb 1-1!” from a national back in the 90’s. I believe they printed it between motos because he ended up going 1-38😔
