Damn.
It's been sunny all week.
So naturally it'll be cloudy and rain all weekend.

An F1 and moto watching kind of day.

Going to take the beautiful Mrs. to the Birch aquarium and then a nice lunch in La Jolla.
Took my dog paddle boarding last night in Mission bay. Bought some beautiful rib eyes for the grill.
And just overall try to relax. And probably get the generator prepped in case of power outage this weekend.
It always happens when you're not expecting it so just prepping will make it not happen.

Great pictures guys....
Unfortunately since Jan has been battling cancer/chemo the last 2.5 years the fun stuff we use to do like Jetskiing/camping has not been able to happen....

So we will chill around the home and meet my Cuz for dinner on Sunday.

Have Fun guys! 👍

How is Jan doing? I feel for you brother. We went through some heavy duty meds for my wife also.
We actually just did a follow up this last week with her onc.

The chemo has been pretty hard on her with all the stuff it does, food tastes like crap, sores inside her mouth nausea and It causes a lack of appetite and she does not want to eat but she needs the protein and it is a tough for me to try to get her to eat.

Her energy level it's pretty much gone and she's exhausted a lot of the time.

She has chemo every two weeks but skipped a session to go visit her beloved niece in NY much to my dismay as I was VERY concerned for her well being.

When she came back just a few days ago she slept for a whole straight day and then next week she starts chemo all over again, she will be having a CT scan in a month or so and so far the tumors have basically stayed the same in her liver. It started in her colon.

I am very worried though this whole ordeal but can't let it show.

She never complains or gets angry and she's just an amazing strong and brave woman, I've never met anyone like that.

Thanks for asking how is your wife doing?

Yeah, damn cancer meds suck.
Been on them for 5 yrs now.
While they're successful in keeping me off of chemo, they take you from a ripping cyclist, long distance backpacker, semi retired moto rider....
Well, down to not being those any longer.

Can't risk a fall from any of the bikes, due to bone density issues from them.
Good for only a partial amount of trail miles on foot as before.

But hey, still above ground.

It's also maddening to see what a money making industry that disease is.
And how much even the best ins. still leaves you owing.

I rode Saturday morning at a practice track, came home. Later played 9 holes with my wife and daughter. Relaxed all day Sunday and made some ribs. Monday I had a good workout at the gym. Been a good weekend.

So my wife is doing pretty good on the cancer end, thanks for asking.
Couple things I learned during my treatments. Have her have ice in her mouth during
infusions. (they never told me why but when I found out it made total sense) the cold constricts the
veins and arteries so you don't get as much of the chemo around your mouth and that reduces or
even eliminates the mouth sores. Also, have her eat with plastic fork and spoon. The metal causes
the food to taste like shit, well the metal fork and spoon themselves taste like shit.
Hope that helps.

Our usual weekend routine.
Head over to the cabin in N.C. tomorrow night.
Watch the sun come up Saturday morning.
Go for a quick hike before the Tomac/Sexton battle commences.
Then tromp around in the woods for a few days.

You ever air BNB/rent the cabin out?? I’d be very interested for a weekend!
