With the E dirt bike trend moving forward, it would seem, on paper, opening an indoor facility any where in Orange county would make sense? No noise, no exhaust, huge moto demographic? What do you guys think?

I think it's a good idea. I think more indoor urban type facilities will be popping up as electric bikes become more prevalent.

O.C. E-Bike Indoor MX ! I like the idea.
Charging stations at the facility too. Smile
Probably could get more hefty entry fees the more you accommodate the riders/racers.

I have been thinking of something similar on my property but for only mini riders on the KTM SX-E5 and the equivalents. If I kept the dust down the neighbors shouldn't have too much to complain about. Electric bikes only, parents wouldn't have to worry about their kids getting destroyed by a 450. Could essentially be open any time. Not sure if there are enough mini riders to support it though.

Why would you need an indoor facility in OC where the weather is almost optimal year around? Now if we're talking the midwest or something then the space may be worth it

Didn’t this idea nearly come true 10-20 years ago with the blimp hangars in Irvine?

Not sure why it has to be inside Orange County weather is good all year around indoors just seems more dangerous when someone goes flying of the track into a wall or pole.

It's a good idea but it's California and they will get you somehow...especially in OC. I would do heavy research on insurance policies and liability. It might be better to do it just outside the OC county lines. But if in OC, I would go the Country Club Moto Club route. High end customers who pay a nice membership for a nice place and if you can find a large enough space, then bike lockers would be cool. For example, for the OC executive type they would show up on a Friday after lunch and you would have their bike pulled from the locker and sitting on the stand. Gear up, ride for a couple hours, leave bike for you to wash (or not wash) and put back in their locker for storage. Executive leaves and does his regular Friday night activities after riding. There is a market for this, trust me. I take surfers who spend 7K for a day and a half to surf wave pools.

It's hot, dry, and dusty all summer. I still ride a bit but I would much rather be indoors riding some groomed chocolate cake during the summer months.

Build it and I’m there, well after I find an ebike to purchase.

However, having a building big enough for a track with enough outside parking would cost you a fortune (lease or purchase) in the landlocked OC.

An outdoor facility would be great, as long as there were lights (for those of us who actually work).

And it needs to be near a hospital and a taco stand.

Thanks!

The few indoor tracks up here in pac nw that where private owned. Where ghost towns during the nicer months. Busy in the winters.

We lost one of the indoor locations that had been around for a long time at this county fair. Because some guy crashed through the arena wall.
It was like steel sheeting not like it was concrete.

I've ridden and raced lots of arenacross stuff up here. It would be better outdoors.

How does the 401k mandate fuck over business owners? There are free ways for businesses to participate, and it only adds a very minimal amount of time to the processing of payroll.

In several ways but start with administrative, accounting, plan management, etc. A lot of small businesses don't have the resources to deal with all the administrative tasks involved with rolling this out.

If you are a business owner you should know more time is spent on dealing with red tape, compliance, permits, insurance, EDD, etc than simply running your business..

It looks like the state website for administering a 401k plan is free, and very simple to use.

If a company is using a payroll service (and a small business of 5+ employees probably should be), the incremental cost is pretty small.

It's maybe a little burdensome for the state to require small businesses to do this. But, it's far from "fucking them over".

...and it definitely shouldn't be considered a factor if somebody wants to open a new business.

"If you are a business owner you should know more time is spent on dealing with red tape, compliance, permits, insurance, EDD, etc than simply running your business.."

Come on. That's not true.

Okay, come back to this thread after you've started your own business and have several employees in CA. For now, we can just agree to disagree.

Black Diesel gets it.
No disrespect to Richie, but working for someone doing administrative work is far cry from owning and knowing all that goes into running a business. On the outside it looks easy, trust me it's anything but easy.

Part of my actual job is handling all these admin tasks related to running a business. I know exactly what is involved.
