Saw 2 things I’ve never seen before this week. A Tarantula hawk, and a Vanderhall.

How big is that insect?? I remember seeing a Saturday matinée in the ‘70’s about oversized insects attacking people on vacation in a cabin. My older brother had to give me 2 boxes of Milk Duds to keep me quiet in the theater.

Laughing
I was curious too, I went and measured the net from these pics, the body from the head to the stinger is all of 1-3/4”, the wings make it around 2”+, and the creepy legs stretch out at least that much. I researched them a little. “The worlds most painfull insect bite” although it doesn’t last long and isn’t fatal ( unless you’re allergic ?) They kill tarantulas by stinging them repeatedly and then laying their eggs in the dead spiders body. Fucking yummy right imagine if those things were 2 feet instead of 2 inches Blink

Phoebe Cates!!! Dayum she twisted up my teenage hardwiring back in the 80’s.
I’m sure Dimone would say the same! 😀

Not my pics. I just appreciate the setting. Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds in Dyersville, Iowa.

Crazy looking cloud down behind our cabin last night.
We were joking about it masking an alien spacecraft.

Making an effort to pull up some nonpolitical threads back into the limelight.

A couple of shots from earlier this year of a myself, my GF and her brother on a hike across the Roane highlands along the AT.

Things like this give my wife even more reason to think I’m fucking stupid. As soon as I spotted it I’d involuntary exclaim “ ooh, dirtbike” and then stand there for 30min checking out the detail on the display while she shops.
