It’s really good. As an outspoken huge fan of the current bike, they did a great job of keeping all of the current positives and also improving many other areas without sacrificing the current good attributes. I was worried they would have “messed” up the bike if there were too many changes but they really only improved any weak spots and kept all the good stuff too. I was really impressed with that. The engine seems even a little better, and the suspension is still great like always. But the light weight feel is a big difference. I wouldn’t guessed it was more than 5 lbs because it feels even more than that. Also the front of the bike is very narrow now like the other bikes so if that was ever a concern of yours it won’t be now. The rider triangle is much better with better room between the foot peg and seat. And also the flatter seat allows you to stay up on the bike much better rather than always sliding into a “pocket” on the seat. That’s partially why I run the Guts tall seat on the current bike because it get rid of that pocket and let’s me stay on the front of the bike better. The new bike does that better now. And then the turning is much improved. With the weight reduction and the chassis changes the front end feel and turning is much better. Better planted and positive front end feel and turns much easier and better with sacrificing any high speed stability. Again overall I was impressed they didn’t lose any of the positive of the current bike and only improved all the areas of concern to most of us. The bike now is great. Just look at tomac. But the fact that he rode this bike and chose to sign again with Yamaha let’s you know how good it is. It was cool to be a part of that process too getting to test his bike and the new bike on SX and get it “set up” for him to test it before deciding to sign again. You’ll love it!
The man has spoken. Sounds great. Thanks for the review.

GYTR kitted bike looks nice, an additional hydro clutch that looks similar to what the MXGP and MX2 teams use aswell???

I actually really like the idea of making the base bike have a basic cable clutch that you could upgrade to a factory level hydraulic if you want to pay extra for the add on. Smart!

Some of us just prefer the cable.

Lol at negative “looks” comments. IDGAF what it looks like as long as it performs well. It looks better than prev gen IMO, but again functionality matters most. If it’s appealing to the eye you go faster? 🤷🏼‍♂️😂🤡 Just weird to me. Ima head out to be old somewhere…

Fuck yeah brother, watched a buddy drop his brand new kx450 '20 model and break his reservoir for the hydro clutch. He was pissed, held that fucker wide open on the trail for next 10 minutes. She got hot too. Fuck hydro

If you watch more technical riders, none of them over-rev bike. Sexton, Craig, Lawrence brothers, Roczen, Gajser.. they all ride very smooth and don't over-rev bikes.

What I would like from next-gen YZ250F is same weight loss and ergonomics and maybe better mid to top with the same low-end feel.
I know, right? Everyone should just ride like those guys and they wouldn't have a problem

I would 100% agree with you if the new Hondas didn't look so damn fire. Not that I don't like the new YZ, but I am closer to buying a new Honda than I have been since since switching to blue back in '03. Especially that 50th anniversary edish with the gold wheels. So sick!

First bikes will arrive Nov-Dec here in EU. Old models sold out... first world problems.

I would buy the Honda on looks too 100%. But then I would hate my life with that "nimble" inside rut superstar.

For old weekend warriors stability is the holy grail. Stability means conficence you will be able to go work on monday wich means you ride faster too. Made that mistake once, not anymore.

I just….Great guy, but that new podcast had me clearing my throat every 5 minutes. If he wants a job in media after he retires (if he ever retires?) he should get that shit sorted,

Doesn't look particularly offensive and sounds like all the changes are in line with what people have been asking for, so that sounds good enough for me, gonna eye up their 250 next year I reckon.

Still like the sound of the '23 Kawi 250 too, so just depends if I'm broke at the time and I go for a year old one of those or a fresh blue one haha, can never bring myself to finance toys.

Looks like someone pulled the clutch cable.

That bike is fitted with a host of GYTR components. One of the components is an optional hydraulic clutch that can be fitted to the bike. Yamaha was pretty smart in making the clutch actuator housing a bolt on part, so it can be swapped form cable to hydro very easily.

Looks are not that important. Performance is what counts. That said, this picture is the one that made me say, "I like the new look."

That expensive hydraulic assembly delete probably paid for the more worthwhile one piece steel clutch basket/primary gear.

Never been brand loyal, but have been brand negative… owning a 2010 YZ450 that was all the hype and turned out to be a turd of epic proportions left me turned off on Yami’s until now.

Been on a 21 CRF450, which for me has been a great machine, fun, fast, flickable, race wins, etc., but might be time to switch it up.

Anyone out there thinking of going Yami? If so what would you be coming off of?

New Honda's look SO good. Best looking bikes by a mile. If only they made a 350

A KTM. I'm looking for a more planted feel out of my front end

KTM as well. Better cornering, technical handling, and suspension is my goal.
