It looks like Cooper took on the the reigning AA champ, Robby Marshall, at the Hemonds JDay in Minot Maine. It looks like an absolute blast, and they put on a good battle for the spectators.

Maybe get over it. Cooper doesn’t tell you what to do with your life…

this will be interesting come A1.

if he comes out swinging, we'll all agree that the way he spend the summer riding random events and apparently just having "fun" has paid out well.

on the other side, if he comes out as a 5-10 guy, he'll have huge hurdles to get his head back in the game and he'll get flamed for dicking around all summer.

I think it’s awesome how people don’t mind roczen taking summers off, leaving supercross early, not telling fans what’s going on. But Webb takes the summer off to relax while his kid is coming and start doing SX only, and still goes to a bunch of small events to be with fans and people hate him? He tested last week some suspension to get ready for Jday and the track said they would give him a private day and he said he wanted to do the public day to ride with people and sign autographs. Tomac is SX only next year, would people rather have him hang out with them and get to ride with a champion or have him disappear into the mountains never to be seen again?

Only big time losers have something bad to say about Webb. Probably the same people who downvote me.

All I hope is that his head injury that kept him out of the Nationals is healing well.

That sounds like something a big time loser would say.

More top dogs should go hang out at their local stomping grounds once and a while. The kids at that race will never forget the day Cooper Webb showed up to race and hang out with them.

This is so freaking cool! What a way for him to reset and “fall in love all over again” with racing his dirt bike. I’m thinking this extends his career a few years.

Not sure if he has any Maine connection or roots, but agree its cool to have the big timers show up to where they came from or even someone else's neck of the woods. It was always cool in New England when JoJo raced between AMA rounds in the 80s. Imagine a top tier, former champ, factory rider.

Not sure either, but I agree. In my area there’s a big money local harescramble once a year and it’s cool seeing Baylor/Toth/Ashburn/ etc show up!

It's called WDS... Webb Derangement Syndrome. It is real.

People lost their shit because he stopped in a guitar shop....

Sad.

So cool to see Coop doing stuff like this. I would love to be in attendance.

Agreed. I bet everyone there was really excited to see him there. And I bet he gave everyone autographs and took photos. Definitely a day most who attended won’t forget.

Webb could have just retired and come back in 5 years like Dungey, then he would be considered a hero.

So i guess his brain injury is healed and he is ready to race the rest of the nationals? Good for him…

Everyone wants a tough guy that goes against the grain, until that one person comes along. Coop has been the heel the last few years and I love it. Apparently he’s offended the hardcore crowd that would kill to get a whiff of bob Hannah’s leathers with his cigarette behind the ear photos on the gate, and mind games.

The look-over during the slo-mo was awesome! And the crowd was loving it!

What’s the downside of this again? Who personally was financially or emotionally harmed by Webb racing local events? Not like he would be battling Tomac or Sexton anyway…

I think most the “haters” are just worried about his well being. We want to make sure the head injury that kept him out of the Nationals is healing up.

The fans got their moneys worth.
Smart ass comments aside... It is actually pretty cool he’s going to these events and even getting beat. LOTS of dudes in his position would have been WAY too much ego to do what he’s doing.

This is why I like Webb. He's mentally tough/confident when it comes to serious business, which I think some people mistakenly attribute to arrogance.....but seems totally down to Earth and a genuinely decent person outside the limelight.

This from his IGram post...

3-1 and battled my heart out with the legend @themarshall774 on Saturday. DNF (flat)-1 and fun battles with @pizzawillly Sunday. If you haven’t done one of these, you should. I’d love to do more in the future 👊🏽

There is ZERO ego in that.
