So i was pretty critical of the world sx series and basically said no way it will succeed. After all the star power they are pulling in, the amount of intrest from teams and riders i think they are on to something. If they can make the money work i really think the nationals are in trouble when it comes to star power in the future.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, Brett. It used to be a joke and no one truly cared about it or thought it had any significance whatsoever. A big yawner. Here’s hoping things have changed!

I still think there length of there season will be the downfall. They should just have 5-6 rounds after September. They could even have 5 events over 2 nights and 2 mains per night. No heat races. Qualy and 2 mains. That's 20 rounds. And hope to get in the big names. Next year I don't think there will be any depth. Brayton and Oldenburg could be world champions.

It’s early. Neither fail or success is proved yet and won’t be this year either way

But. If they can’t pull a crowd in Cardiff with Eli, Kenny and chad , they never will

The OP just admits he was maybe wrong to criticize something a little too early early without sufficient information. Maybe a little wisdom can be gleaned in this situation from him going out of his way to admit when he is wrong and not to jump the gun.....

Haha

Subsequent posters immediately double down on the same premature conclusions with little to no public information available.

"New thing bad!"
"Sky is falling!"
"Attack new thing!"

The amount of assumptions you have to make to conclude it will fail at this point is amazing. I'm not saying it wont fail but some people are already so positive. You should already be millionaire venture capitalists if you are that good at predicting these things.

Not saying it will fail, and I truly hope it doesn’t, but was it ever that big of a deal in the first place?

When the stadiums fill up and more riders get involved it will be a success.

I hope World SX succeeds.
The Nationals will not be in trouble.
Just hope the TV coverage gets better

I hope it succeeds... but I question if the business model relies on the middle-eastern handout (I forget which country is funding it) for it to exist or is it to support itself at some point (sponsors, ticket sales, merch, TV/Netflix).

Again- I think it's awesome but at some point all honeymoon handouts stop. Would be amazing if they can accomplish all they've set out.

The jury is out on WSX, But as far as Nationals g, they are going to have issues because TV time show so little of the field compared to SX the money will start to dry up. And riders make so much from SX it is not worth the risk.

Washougal showed Chase and Eli 80% of the time. Why would a sponsor pay for a rider in 5th who never gets exposure of their product or bike?

Could turn out like the Fyre Festival. Hoping it won’t, but until all the checks clear….

I'm for pretty much anything that gets riders and teams funded better. Especially the riders not in the top ten. I'm hearing all sorts of different things about there being really good money for the riders to it's all a bunch of bull. I'm hoping it has some real money behind it.

I keep reading… “what happens when the money runs out?!”

If it’s marketed correctly and grows a status, when the money runs out it won’t matter! Riders and manufacturers will want to race it for the Accreditation of being the World SX Champion.

It already happens…
Monster Energy SX champion..
MXGP world champion…

Neither of those series are paying huge amounts to the riders for start money.

I still remain skeptical about this. Seems a one man race with Tomac showing up, more like a demonstration event. Reed will do nothing, as he will DNF and blame anything but himself. (speaking, of course, in his fake accent)
None of the MXGP teams are interested, it'd be something serious if you see some of the GP stars line up, as it's be a chance to 'settle the score' somewhat. To me, it's like the F1 clone, 'A1', that just fizzled into obscurity. I think they're doing it in golf now too, but golf ain't a sport.

I've never admitted that I'm wrong for the same reason I don't have a "Welcome" mat at my front door.

It's because I'm not a liar.
