Matthes said on the Millville review pod that these races will mean that there are more gaps in the schedule and push the season on later into the year, throwing MXdN participation into doubt for US based riders. If this is the case, I truly despair for the sport. We have 50 year old tradition in this sport, the one truly unique event we have in motocross, the only real opportunity we have to see nearly all the best guys in the world in one place at one time, and we’re going to cast it aside for the sake of three SX/MX hybrid races, which by the way, won’t be SX/MX hybrid, they will be shit SX tracks with a few flat straights and corners, just like every other event of this type. And we lose a national or two for good measure. This whole thing just sucks to me, there was already too much SX and not enough moto, and now it’s getting even worse

Promoters are and should make money along with everyone else involved and some should make more than others, risk VS reward. One of the issues with the promoters is the adding of venues, grate for everyone except the guys that are the show, the riders. Feld or MX sports add a race or two does Tomac's pay go up ? Kind of like your working for me and started out working 3 days a week for $300 and now your working 5 days a week for $300. I'm getting more productivity out of you so I'm making more but your just working more and really making less plus if you get injured while working and promoting my business no big deal for me because I don't have to insure you, you have to have you own coverage so really my risk factor is not nearly as high as yours (the riders). And really that's just the tip of this F up sport, "hey Lebron you or the Lakers are going to have to pay us (the NBA) if you want to play, in fact each and every player in the NBA or the team needs to do the same, pay us". We have the best sport in the world but the most F up system.
Your analogy simply doesn't apply. Working 40 percent more for same pay isn't kind of like the combined series in the least.

When they add more racing/race's it's exactly like working more for the same pay.
But it’s actually working more for more money

Agree with you 100%. Almost as if the powers that be are trying to kill motocross and the MXoN.

Yea, let's lose a national or two and add in a few areanacross events. People really want that! Brilliant.

Time for new people to run the sport.

Don’t worry … we will probably still get two rounds at Pala … so at least we got that going for us .

Nobody cared about the Monster Cup in the end, it was just something to watch in the lull between seasons, but the entries got worse and worse even with a million on the line, and virtually nobody cares that it’s not here now. Where is the demand for a series of races like this? I just don’t see it at all. You’re giving people less of what they love and more of something they don’t give a shit about. WSX is fulfilling the demand of people who want to watch SX outside of the US, of which there are a lot, I don’t see where the demand is for this type of thing, who’s asking for it?

So if it doesn’t conflict with Des Nations, is there any downside?

It’s nothing but a tactic to keep the top riders racing exclusively in the USA . The riders(cash cows) were suddenly presented with a new option(WSX) . That’s not going over well with some , but I would suggest a better way to keep riders racing your series is to up the purse . Crazy I know .

Strange, the excuse the last couple years was the US series ends too early compared to date of mxdn so riders needed a break and would skip the race. Now the race schedule is going longer, theoretically closer to race date of mxdn, but now the excuse is they are too close to overlapping?? Would have more respect for the riders if they just would come out and say they don’t want to do it

No matter the motivation it seems like only upside to have mxsports and feld working closer, more racing for us to enjoy, and the riders deserve the opportunity to make more money.

Large guaranteed bonuses to the top 10 in 450 points between sx and mx combined would help to save mx. Field might even have interest in footing some of the bill if it meant those riders didn't compete in wsx. That is if they really see world SX as a true threat. Not to mention it might help prevent some sx only contacts.

Hey Feld / MX Sports,

If you want to do a 3 race series or whatever, call it the Triple crown, have it be a part of the SX and MX season (A1, Dayonta, Unadilla??) or just do a Grand National championship paying $1 million to the winner. If you want to spread the races out some more whatever, but don't do it so that riders can't race the the MXoN.

Signed,

AND don't do it in a way that you lose a National race (or two).

Yes. The riders are already saying that they are doing to much, and we’re already having a hard time keeping the riders fit for the races we have now. Also, we lose a national or two, which absolutely sucks. I’m probably in the minority but I much prefer the nationals to SX, and find the SX season to be too long already as it is. The racing is better outdoors, and the riders seem to get injured less

The talk is that this kind of thing was already in the works anyway, but how true that is we’ll likely never know. I know the FIM is far from perfect and not easy to work with, but I always said that they were worth keeping around just so someone else couldn’t have them. With the FIM split they opened the door to competition and now they have to respond to try and keep people in America in the summer.

This.

FELD splitting with FIM was such a shitty business decision that it's laughable. They didn't/failed to take SX global, they actually cut their ties to one of the organizations that could've helped them with it and here we are.

The FIM hosed the US with all the WADA stuff. Recall all the talk of how they had an axe to grind with American Moto during those years.

There was only 3 guys that got busted during the 15 or so years of FIM involvement, admittedly, it was a shit show for those guys, but it was fine as long as you followed the rules which the vast majority of riders did

Nobody? The event had enough racers to bring enough spectators year after year to either completely sell out or be near capacity every year.

People were always going to watch because of the time of year it was on, but in the grand scheme of things, most of the time, nobody cared. More top rider would skip it than choose to race it, and I can barely recall anyone mentioning it since it went away.

Seems like you've talked to a lot of people to have your finger on the MEC pulse like you do. How many events did you attend, or did you just become a MEC expert from across the pond?

the top US riders committing to the new WSX series is a great negotiating tactic. watch and you'll see Feld and MXSports start upping the payouts to riders in the near future.
7/20/2022 12:46pm
FELD and MX better figure something out soon, its only a matter of time before WSX starts coming after American venues, and if they land a major media deal in the US then it will be over.

Ideally Feld and MX should form some kind of joint media partnership that they can take to a TV network, they might need to front some cash for air time, but that will buy them some time to develop a functional streaming service.

Crap Im still kinda lost. Does this Hybrid series is like... 3 round in the end of the year to "make americans not ride in MXoN and WSX"??
I read in another forum and I understood they were saying that SX and MX would become just one big championship.... and I honestly found that OK, tbh.

I also read some people saying WSX will have 5 or 6 races max in the next years, that its not planned to be a "9 month long championship with 20 rounds", like I was thinking it would be.

Totally lost now

glad im not the only one who isnt following

is the idea
4 supercross races (example: the last 4)
3 new rounds (hybrid races? when, after mx?)
4 motocross (example: the first 4)

and this would be its own unique championship? So you could have a Supercross Champ, Motorcross Champ, and Hyrbid series Champ?

How would this keep more riders out of WSX and stay in MX? Would the manufacturers just be expected to give an extra bonus to their riders? Or is a Sponsor (monster?) going to come on board and offer a million dollars to the hybrid champion?

Literally no one wants this. Some weird, feebly and reactionary response to WSX

How about do a better job with your current series, let's start there.

Totally lost now

Apparently 1 less outdoor round, and 3 hybrid races with big purses

Nobody cared about the Monster Cup in the end, it was just something to watch in the lull between seasons, but the entries got worse and worse even with a million on the line, and virtually nobody cares that it’s not here now. Where is the demand for a series of races like this? I just don’t see it at all. You’re giving people less of what they love and more of something they don’t give a shit about. WSX is fulfilling the demand of people who want to watch SX outside of the US, of which there are a lot, I don’t see where the demand is for this type of thing, who’s asking for it?

This just shows that you don't know a damn thing. Monster Cup was great and sold out most years.
