Not to use it is a excuse as i never had him in contention in this race. But this is the worst i have seen him on a bike ever.

Age and lack of practice has caught up with him to.
I agree, he had no flow compared to usual.

He is an old guy on holiday.

Do you really take every claim as literal on Vital of all places?

Cairoli hasn't had a 1-1 for two years. He has only had 7 x 1-1s in the last 7 MXGP seasons.

He didn't start riding until end of January/start of February and hasn't done many 30s by all accounts.

His last two races were Bercy and an amateur enduro in Italy last month.

Anyone genuinely expecting a 1-1 is crazy person.

He has one week and one race to improve or do you see him staying past next weekend?

There seem to be a lot of moto psychics on board here. How about we hear predictions for next weekend and see which ones are legit and which ones are snake oil salesmen.

Not the end of the world, in front of barcia n plessinger
Lets be honest here. Barcia and Anderson crashed and had to come from last both motos. Plessinger also had poor starts. I think Tony will be better at Hangtown but so will many of these guys. If you listened to the post race interviews many of them have been on the motocross bike for only a few weeks after supercross.

I think it’s really impressive for several reasons.
1) Off the couch - at least not grinding out a training program like the regulars.
2) all the top US guys have ridden there regularly over the years and for Sexton and Craig it’s their home track. Tony first put wheels on the track last week.
3) unfamiliar with US spec production bike, not the European spec works bike with stiffer frame

Exceeded my expectations for sure.

Glad to see him out there . Don't know why people are saying he looked awesome tho . I would would say he looked Ok . I think that's how he would think of it. I was hoping he was lying about not being ready ,and would be up front .

Talks about bike setup wasnt right and US tracks are so prepped they could not find enough holes and bumps to test.
Production frame is softer so suspension setup didnt work. He also crashed end of first moto otherway he could have been 6/6. If they could fix bike he could be top 5 even with lack of preparations.

Not many retired racers could go top 7 while on holiday. Definitely from a spectator, it's great having him out there.

Cairoli turns 37(!) this year and is on a holiday. I would imagine that it takes an insane amount of work and preparation to be at podium level speed in either series for a guy in that age category.

6 months off for a guys like him is probably a bit more significant than 6 months off for a guy in his prime. He did well on that track with a bike he isn't used to.

Yeah surely no one thinks he’s riding at 100% effort?!

He’s retired, on holidays and riding for fun. No matter how competitive his spirit is, no way it over takes the reluctance to push hard and take risks in that situation. Regardless he still nearly managed to go 6-6.

So good to just see Cairoli out there.
