Traffic in the Pala parking lot has not moved at all in an hour and people are trying to head into the back of the track, not downhill towards Highway 76. Any helpful advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I go on Harley rides on those backroads almost weekly. A day like today would have traffic on Hwy 76 without a National. That’s why I got the hell out of there with 15 mins left n the last moto. Hopped in the truck and had no wait at all, came home and watched the last
Moto on TV. You gotta plan this shit out….it’s all physics

I bailed on lap 4 of the last moto, was on the 78 in 10 minutes. Even pulled over and got some avocados with no issues pulling back onto the 78. Sucks missing the 2nd half of the last moto but I hate traffic. I’ll watch it once one of my kids figures out MAVTV for me 😂😂

Thanks for the comments. It took about 2 hours to get out of parking lot. I had a good audiobook and when I finally got internet caught up on F1 qualifying and the closing arguments in the Heard Drama Show.

But in the end, despite such a colossal waste of time, I had fun. I went to three Supercrosses this year and loved every moment, but Nationals really let you get up close and see just how hard outdoor moto is and how amazingly good these racers are. Plus the fans are committed!

40 years of going to Washougal , I learned to take some cool drinks , something to cook on ( Coleman stove ) and a folding cot and sleeping bag. Get back to my rig after the races , and just have fun......either leave about 7 - 8pm or just spend the night. Haven't fought my way out of Washougal in many years.

I ever tell you guys about the dude getting run over in a tent? Or the crowd that beat the shit out of a cop car? Or the chick that got tipped over in the porta-pottie with turds on her head? Or the time a group of about 30 hired security / police dismantled a camp site , tried to arrest me , and failed......and then I got the ultimate revenge on the lead prick cop 5 minutes later??

Let's just say , as he was laying there , he probably thought he should of took on another part time job.

I may do that. On the last one , I don't want to incriminate myself , but if you guys knew the whole story , you would probably applaud what I did. And , just for reference , I have long time buddies on this site that can testify what I say is true. Seen some wild shit up there. We even lost the National one year because of it.

I remember a few of the things you mentioned but definitely not all of that. I’ve been going to washoigal national since I was a young buck (around 02)

My buddies and this uh other guy that deff wasn’t me had a certain trail we would use to smuggle beer in (mostly for the fun of it) for national week. One year we did about 6 or so runs for various people and made about 300 bucks doing so for other dumb ass teenagers like ourselves Tongue

Also heard a few good ones from back in the 80s involving car fires and wet T shirt contests

All stories would be the ones of “distant friends that I no longer know” of course!!

That was a big time test of my patience. I left with 5 mins togo in 450 moto 2. It took around 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. Man, bummed.

Haha nice!! My first national there was 80' , at the ripe old age of 12. I have to say , that between about 85' to mid 90's it was crazy up there at night.

So you got out of there before the commercial break finished during the telecast.

Pretty sure that’s the one I’ve heard stories about lol

We hung out bbq hot dogs, flew kites, let the kids climb all over the rocks, rode mtb bikes, drank a few beers, and pulled out though the pits about 7:30. That’s the only way to survive leaving that place.

All the pro nationals, Trans-AMA’s I have attended since 1973 have been a cluster to get out of unless you leave midway through the last moto. These have all been back east and mid west area but it sounds like its a universal problem. Tracks in the middle of nowhere and 1 way in and out (2 lane). Steel City was probably the best but still presented a few challenges.

I stayed in my tent in the campground after the race. Met some crusty old codgers like myself and lied to each other till we forgot which ones we had already told.

Got up at 5 and headed north. I'm camped at Beale AFB. I'll probably camp here all week till Hangtown. Can't beat 8 bucks a night.

Hmmm Hangtown always has multiple exits opened up only for the race. No reason to check out early to avoid traffic. Guess it depends on the location of the track.
