less than 3 seconds off the top qualifier, for the time he's had off, that's still impressive imo.

3+ seconds off the fastest qualifier is a lot to make up. I'm rooting for him, but I'm thinking top 5 is a major accomplishment today. Its all about building throughout the year. Major treat to us fans for him racing.

Pretty amazing he's faster in practice than some of the younger guys who've have been racing the last few years.

So cool to see.

Cairoli too. Wow.

Dungey 24-0 STAMP IT. Only question is, will he lap the field?

It is Ryan Dungey. Did you really think he was going to come out and be slow? Come on now...

He could be 10+ seconds off the pace and I'd still be pumped to see him out there.

First race back after 6 years off, not bad.

Doesn’t seem like he’s far off his old ways.

This is from 2016 Hangtown

Good find man. Yeah, he was never really strong in practice, but especially the first few rounds. He'll be fine. Still think he gets top 5 today.

After 6 years away, I can state with confidence that neither you nor I would have any way to know until today. If that wasn’t the case, the comeback wouldn’t be interesting. C’mon now.

Anyone that believes dunge isn't a title threat is either kidding themselves or to young to know how fast dunge is. Look at Chad fuckin Reed at Ironman.
Dung is likely going to prove Reeds theory of the sport not progressing in terms of speed anymore. He made a comment this year about how the speed hasn't really changed. It's the same as its been the last 10-15 years. It's just that the back half of the field is catching up to the elite riders. Just look at how many champions are in the 450 class every week.

Also AC is a title threat if he wants to race the series. He was in title contention most of last year.

2 seconds a lap down equals almost being lapped at the end of the Moto 😬

Sexton is not going to pull 2:12 lap times for 30 minutes + 2 laps.

5th in his first moto after 6 years off is great.

Short turn around time before moto 2. Hope he can do it again. Let's go Dungey!

He will win a moto this year at some point. The diesel is back.

Totally agree. This is insane. I really thought the riders had evolved and he would be fighting to get top 10's. I was very wrong.
