Eli Signs SX Only For 23

Didn't see that coming thought he would go both mx and sx next year.

Prob doing the same thing he did with SX. See how he does during the season and then make the call to sign or not for 23 outdoors.

I don't blame him. He knows he's on the "landing side" of his career...and wants to go out on top, without a huge chance of getting hurt.

Eli is a bad ass but I have less respect for the SX only guys. MX is where it’s at for me.

I am surprised more riders don't go for SX only contracts, I know I would racing in high heat and humidity is not my thing anymore. Blush

I get that, but nobody starts out riding SX.
Everybody starts with MX. MX is where the men race. SX is like going to the circus.

If the new World SX series works out I bet you see many riders just ride regular SX and then the World SX I hate to say.

Are the Nationals going to die? Have always been afraid of that happening one day. SX sucks compared to MX.

I don't subscribe to the real men ride MX BS. I love it all when it comes to dirtbikes - MX, MXGP, SX, EX, AX, Hard Enduro, you name it. I'm not into watching flat track, but I watch all the rest of it - and enjoy every bit of it I can get. If SX only contracts gives these guys longer careers and more time for us fans to watch them, then great. Eli has nothing more to prove in MX other than maybe a MXdN win. SX only contracts for certain riders opens up more rides for other riders to ride in the outdoors. And I've ridden some amateur SX tracks. To say real men ride MX is laughable. Those pro level SX tracks are gnarly as fuck to ride, let alone race.

I know there are a bunch of you people that think loving the outdoors is "core" to the foundation of MX. I love the outdoors too. However, I understand why these guys get burnt out and if SX only contracts extend their careers, then I'm all for it.

Let’s all agree we’d rather seen him try the GP’s out instead before he hangs it up

Eli did say he thinks the new World SX series is a good thing. Then signs a SX only contract.

Pretty much tells you what he is thinking for 2023.

This is what I want to believe but I think the world SX is probably more likely.

He'll be 30 next year. Carmichael, Villopoto and Dungey (and others) had been completely retired for a couple years by that age. Do you have less respect for them, too?

Sounds cool if you are an Eli fan but Dungey retired because he got spooked when he hurt his neck and was also burned out.

Been a big supporter of Eli since his 65 days. I do not support this decision. If he doesn’t come back for ‘24, ok, but I’m not a fan of SX only contracts. Everyone bailing on outdoors is lame!

True, but better than full on retiring early like Dunge and Villo.
