Well that track was a real piece of s***..

As a viewer I liked it personally. Imo we need more tracks like that, not less. As per the 1996 Denver SX atop the latest vids section - it was like a throwback to the 90s. Even RC struggled somewhat to remember when they last had terrain like it. Watching the best SX riders work the throttle and technique just enough to not spin out was entertaining.

I was there in person and during qualifying, I thought the dirt looked really good considering it is hard pack dirt like we have out west. In fact, for our dirt out west I thought it looked Primo during qualifying and the start of the races. Not much of a fan of 45 second lap times and the layout was a little one lined (or one fast line). Still fast guys find ways to go faster and make passes. Overall, no real complaints other than short lap times.

There's a reason supercross was held indoors. To control the track conditions so they stay consistent. Someone decided not go give a sh** the last 2 rounds. That was the worst maintenance I've ever seen on a track. The track was unfit to "race it". It gave off practice track at your buddy's house vibes. They couldn't have watered it for at least 3 seconds?

Where the hell did you come up with that stupidly ?

Not sure what kind of dirt they have in the Denver area but in 1st timed practice it was greasy like over watered clay then night show was hard packed and blue groove ready.

Every rider has to race on and adapt to the current conditions. Does suck for timed practice though

Here's the thing, we all know the dirt was shit and the whole day was somewhat dusty. Not ideal for the spectators and the racing was fair play for all the riders. I'd expect that this dirt issue is noted and will be addressed for next year's Denver event.

One more round of SX and then its outdoors.

Ps. Pala gets hard as hell and dusty in places but lets not complain about that.
The dirt was just different.

Back in McGraths time didnt they have quite a few hard pack SX’s? It wasn’t “dirt” until the series came east.

I thought the conditions were kinda cool. Pro riders are always impressive but when you see how hard they can push in those conditions it just really highlights how talented they are. They rode the ragged edge of that track. Anderson was killing it. Mookie also. Was fun to watch.

If any of you winers raced 30 to 40 years you were thrilled just to go race. Outdoor or indoor it was ridden by men.
Might as well just pave all the tracks and have them run street tires. Ya know to keep them happy. The problem is they forgot what it was like to make the winers happy. It’s friggen dirt and MX and SX not Supermoto

What is a winer?

Edit: Urban Dictionary says a winer is someone that brags to everyone about all of their knowledge about wine. Yeah I can't stand those people either. Carry on.

Always hate the "men" thing, as if it's feminine to complain about track conditions, but somehow manly to complain about a post on the internet.

The track wasn't dangerous. Slick and hardpack, yes. Bitching and moaning? Worthless.

RJ, Bailey, O'mara, Hannah, etc., are laughing right now. Did you ever see Carlsbad on raceday? Go back and look at some of the tracks they raced on. What about Vegas in 1997 when Henry won on the YZF400?

Denver was hardpack and slick back in the 90's as well.

Buddy I don’t know how many hard packed, blue grooved tracks you have ridden in your life but I promise putting water on that truck would have not made it better

You're supposed to keep more water on it earlier, before it becomes hardpack bluegroove.

They may have been caught off guard by the day race. At this elevation, you need to water a ton more and they just don’t have much time during race to prep. The freak wind storm the prior day probably did not help. I suspect a night race would have yielded a much better track.

if they watered it more frequently, YES it would have. All at once before the race...NO it would have been grease and worse.

We also used to light rooms with whale oil lamps... things have progressed in SX, I mean look at the crack media crew they have these days. I'd say they complimented the track perfectly and we all came out as winers.

Start your own series. Show 'em how it's done.

This was the type of track that separated finesse vs. ball to the wall riders. I actually enjoyed seeing those guys battle and use throttle control and line choice to keep it on two wheels.

Watching CC go down and change how he rode to get himself back on the box was pretty awesome to see.
