Sucks that so early in these 450 mains that the track is so destroyed that basically we're not seeing them actually racing.

Eli was smart, and has been throughout his career, to not push the issue early on when he wasn't able to take the lead.
You can't race on more of these tracks, than you can.
This place, and that dirt, should be replaced by another venue.

Jett was essentially in the same position. He didn't cruise to 7-9th place finish. He was challenging for the lead and could have gotten it if he wished to do so. Tomac is easily capable of the same.

I understand the big picture.

I can see taking a second or third place while managing the title, but letting four riders past you (that you could easily beat) is taking the concept too far.

That is certainly possible.

It does raise the question how the same rider at Seattle--Arlington on the same bike all of a sudden isn't comfortable for three races.

I can see taking a 7th place finish on the last or next to last race, but to start backing it in five races from the consummation of the series is like saying how can I trade points for safety for the next four races after proving to the world that I am the fastest.

Those aren't the actions of a person who is more relaxed and confident than they have ever been, to quote some of you.
Sounds like you're an expert at managing a championship....

The competitors should be pissed. Tomac did not even try. These guys want to beat Tomac when he is trying at 100% not this 80 % crap.

If you folks that think Eli should go full banzai at every race would match his factory bonus even if he crashes out..maybe he'd kick it up.

Eli was going for the win first few laps until he tagged webbs wheel and stalled it. Even then he started coming back, got held up by Moranz and caught by Mookie and made a couple mistakes. Was obvious once he lost the tow he wasn’t into battling with guys, that’s how shit happens. The work has already been done I don’t blame him one bit for mailing it in.

Yeah because battling with Pierce Brown and Austin Forkner is just as daunting of a task as slicing through a field of Malcolm Stewart, Chase Sexton, Marvin Musquin, and Jason Anderson

Really? Tomac gave them 100% up until this point and they let him win 7 races and pull a 50+ point lead. If they don't want to see him cruising, they shouldn't have let him spank them week in and week out throughout the season

Smart ride by Tomac. He did exactly what he said he would: go for the when when it's there, but not go crazy chasing a win. As much as I wanted to see him push for the win, when the quick pass on Webb didn't happen and Anderson got by he did the right/smart thing by backing it down. We only need to look at the incidents that took Anderson out of this championship to understand why that was the smart thing.

Eli did exactly what Eli needed to do. Yes, he made it boring but he probably realized he is not an RC or McGrath and needed to play it smart. He does not have the mental toughness those guys had and he probably knows it.

His past is checkered with mistakes during critical times so it was the right thing to cruise around. It is smart to recognize your own weaknesses and avoid them.

I think,
Jett only has one more race to go, there was a bit more urgency to finish up near the front.
Tomac has more races to go, a little less urgent.

Sad part for us fans is expect the exact same race from Tomac next week. Probably 7th again.

He has earned the right to cruise to the title.

Anderson may very well end up tying Tomac for wins.

So is my math correct thinking Eli needs 13th or better to win the title next week?

Checking in late after watching on catch up.

Jett was on absolute cruise control that main. He and Austin were marching toward the front 2, with Jett letting Austin do the work. Took a quick shot, didnt pay off, settled back in. Awesome ride to grab the title.

Be interested to learn pre race how much Tomac wanted to wrap it today versus next week?

Correct, a 13th gives him a 27 point lead even if Anderson wins. Considering the field, he would need a major crash or mechanical. I expect the same type of race as today, shoot for a podium but win the title.

Ando is so good this season at turning back rider’s advances. He has been so gritty and his endurance has been lights out all season. He just ground them up with physicality and speed this week. With 2 hardpack tracks to go and nothing to do but pin it, he may run the table. I really hope this rolls over into next season.

Other cool stuff:

- Great ride by Troll. He’s had a painful year and it’s really cool to see him in the top 10. I think he’ll be there most of outdoors too if he doesn’t die before it happens.

- Mookie is running out of time to get that win. However it’s cool to see that he’s been in the top five 33 percent of his career starts. That’s solid and still improving.

- Marv is coming on like an old French wine. Podium after podium. I think it’s possible he gets 1 more win, if Anderson has a mistake.

- Webb looked super racy but I think the pace up front wore him out. He will win again, it just may not be this year which is wild to think about. But if anything, he can look at JA21 for inspiration. My dude went almost 4 years without a win and now has 5 more. Insanity.

Did anyone really expect Anderson to be this good this year? I sure didn't.

He will have to mess up not to win next week. Then in the final, Tomac will try to win and I think he is a little bit faster than Jason.

It would be something if Jason gets 7 wins this year.

From Tomac:

“It was a tough main event. I was up front early but stalled the bike and then I got shuffled back a little bit and ended up just kind of playing it safe. It was a tough track, one of the tougher ones that we’ve had to where the jumps and the bottom of the transitions were just really tough to ride, period. It was a track I didn’t want to take a whole lot of risk on. We’re still in a really good spot for points, and we’ll go clinch it next week in Denver.”
