I think these come out sometime in the spring. I hope they are a little stiffer in the ankle area.

Little stiffer with better buckles would be money. I really dislike the buckles on mine, they are really sticky and also pointy.

Tech 10 is a bit stiff, Instinct is a bit soft. Buckles are much better on the AStars.

One of them needs to make something in the middle.

They do. Tech 7.

I spray the buckles on mine with wd40 and it helps with them being sticky. Just a small shot after I wash them.

Are the Tech 7's really stiffer than the Instinct? The reviews I have seen show the Tech 7 having a lot more lateral movement. Also, the materials on the Tech 7 are subpar compared to the Instinct / Tech 10, mostly the lower area where you grip the bike.

To me they are a little stiffer than the Instinct and also feel a bit lower profile. Definitely lower profile that the Tech 10.
I hear you on the materials, though Tech 10's definitely have a lot of negative reviews about longevity lately.
I haven't noticed an issue gripping the bike with 7's.
Boots are such a subjective piece of equipment, you really have to ride with them to get a good idea how they work for you.
I run 7's for comfort and weight. I remember reading somewhere a few Alpinestars riders would wear the 7's if given the choice, but of course Alpinestars wants their top athletes in their top boot.

Better buckles, added ankle stiffness and slightly larger toe box is what I was told. Apparently they are super comfortable.

Astars will let their riders choose the tech 7. They even recently posted on IG one of the GP guys wearing them and advertising it.

I stand corrected then. I prefer the 7's, but if I was still on a supercross track I'd probably pick the 10 for the most support possible.

Same here. Once you ride in the 10’s it’s really hard to go back. The 7 is super comfortable and light but the 10 is much more confidence inspiring to me.

Most notable in SX recently that choose to wear the Tech 7's are
- Max Vohland (I know he's in instincts now)
- Josh Hill

I know this doesn’t matter at all, but I think aesthetic wise these took a huge step back. They look so much more round and soft like their cheaper options now. I have the last gen Instinct and they look so sharp. Hopefully these new ones stay stiffer in the long run. The first ride in my instincts was the most comfortable I had experienced but that quickly went away over the last summer and now I don’t have a lot of trust in them. At the same time A-Ray wire Oneal boots last supy season and he yards it more than I ever will so 🤷‍♂️

I'm not liking the bigger toe box. Hope the current editions go on sale when these are released so I can buy a few.

That’s what I thought too. A friend just bought a new color way and I had to compare to my 3 sets at home they look so different or updated.

Yeah, not an improvement, looks wise. The Fox stuff has gone downhill a bit lately looks wise, plus they seem to be phasing out Shift, which always had a mix of clean and wild stuff.

Or just re-release Stew's pro forma boots from back in the day.

The leatt 5.5s are pretty good for middle of the road. Buckles are pretty much the same as a stars tech 7 buckles. I have both and I like my 5.5s more for sure

The Fox Reps have shown the dealers what’s coming. They are nice. Do not look much different that the instincts.

Your friends in the pic you showed are still the current model instincts. They aren’t the new design. They won’t be out until August timeframe.

Got an email earlier announcing Fox's 2023 boots line up. There's updated Instincts and a new mid-premium level boot. Haven't seen much marketing and all the marketing I have seen has been from Australian retailers, they're not on Fox's US site so I guess they're not released in the USA yet. I'd guess they'll come out tomorrow/today over there since we're a day ahead? Seems weird they're not out yet over there, at least I don't think they are. Anyway they're on the Aussie retailer sites now if anyone wants to check them out.

Has Fox done "The hinge" before? They look like my O'neal RDX.
