Ken mentioned it twice in post race interviews.

Didn't remember hearing about this. Did I miss something?

It wasn’t talked about publicly but apparently he was sick/still having issues with his immune system. Not pandemic related.

For some reason Kenny always rides the best when he doubts himself since his injuries, really interesting.

So we gonna have another season off health issues and excuses from team Roczen.

He just won A1 by a mile and everything seems more then fine.

He’s always 100% until he starts losing. Then a few months later we find out there was a mystery illness he had all along. Same story every year

He just can’t help himself. There’s people like coop who will give it 100% and do whatever they can not to mention their ailments, and there’s people like ken who take every chance to complain.

Or and I'm just spitballing here. Everyone asks riders to be more transparent and he is just simply stating whats up. Isn't it ironic that you guys are complaining about a guy who said his December wasn't what he wanted it to be on a message board. Talk about calling the kettle black.

LOL! You guys sound like my lovely wife. She absolutely despises Roczen..."He has more drama than a middle school girl".

I like Roczen and I'd love to see him win the title this year.

Are we gonna cry about Chiz and everyone else as well that said they didn't have the best off season?

That was a great ride. And he acts like a diva. But his diva behavior is a lot more consistent than the great riding.

His December health issue was addressed on the SX season preview show.
Spent time in Europe for medical attention.

After what's Kenny's been through, I believe him when he says he's ill or injured. Any one here almost lost an arm, had multiple extensive surgeries, been put on immunosuppressive drugs, shattered the OTHER fucking arm, and then come back to win a races in professional SX and MX? Most of us can't even keep up a regular gym routine let alone do what he's done.

For what reason? Why on earth would you want less information about the riders? Riders keeping injuries and ailments to themselves is just really dumb, what is there to gain from it? AC is always very open and honest about his issues, I don’t see him copping the same flack.

A suited up Ken Roczen says he has been back to Europe to visit his old training team in a bid to improve his health for the upcoming season – but then he got sick in December!

The German, who came close to a title last year before his health issues and a ruthless Webb came and took the title away, seems confident he will be better physically this year but the illness over December, that he was quick to stress wasn’t Covid, may mean we have to dampen expectations for Roczen early with Ken saying it has affected his preparation a bit for the season.

“I actually ended up going to Europe this year to catch up with some family, but more of a business trip rather than just pleasure,” Roczen explained of his off-season in the press conference. “Me and my trainer Blake (Savage) caught up with APC Training Facility which are the Red Bull guys in Austria, and that was awesome. Obviously, I had history with them back in the GPs, I would go to them three times a year and did testing and training with them. We had some fun there, but they have really upped it to a whole ‘nother level.

“They basically have a specialist in every category. I really enjoyed going back there. It was just going back to the basics, on the training side of things I was super covered, scheduling wise, and Blake and I looked at it like a collab a bit. We also saw a doctor over there to try to get some more things figured out and that went really, really well.

“Everything was going to plan until December when I came down with a gnarly sickness for some reason. Kind of still battling the effects it – it wasn’t COVID. It kind of threw a wrench in our program in December which was a bit of a struggle.

Interestingly, last year and this year, Roczen seems to be coming from the angle of making things fun and less serious, enjoying the moment and the process, possibly to take away the pressure of going for his first supercross title and allow him to ride to his considerable potential every week.

“ I just felt revived myself a little bit. I made the sport my hobby again, and training,” admitted a candid Ken. “Felt really good to go back to having fun, spending a lot of time at the track and trying to work on my craft a bit.”

Except for this year and outdoors when he said he wasn’t 100% from the beginning. I’d say since 17 we have known he’s not 100%

Exactly! I’m glad he is transparent and let’s us all know what’s going on with him. If he didn’t bring it up on the podium I’m sure Blair would of asked him about it. He did in the PC. I’d rather hear about his health or anything else except thanking every sponsor on his Jersey and say I felt good out there like 95% of the guys. His podium speeches aren’t brutal at all. Forkner, Mcelrath, Ferrandis Musquin on the podium is like nails on a chalkboard

You americans have never thought about the fact that Ken is German and as far as i know, here in europe we are more transparent, just look at MXGP, if a rider is injured there, they talk about it.

It’s called telling the truth, not complaining as you seem to see it as soon as a rider admits that he is sick or have an injury.

And five minutes later you complain about riders being robots etc. You cant have it both ways.

Same goes for the podiums, Marv talks to much blablabla, and then when a american rider does his regular thank the sponsors crap they are boring. Never good is it?

Because Ken always has these murky touchy feely explanations. Maybe because I like the guy but am not his biggest fan Wink

AC always puts the blame on himself when he doesn't ride well. If Roczen doesn't ride well it's the bike, setup, lappers, etc. Never he himself didn't ride well enough. Seems that way to me at least
