If corproate america wants a piece of deegan, why don't they have it? Why don't I see Mattel and Bank of America and Corn Flakes logos on Deegan? Is he turning them down? (It appears you might actually be able to give me an honest answer on it...since you're "industry" and all).

The largest corporate America sponosrs in mx right now are probably target and nike...both sponsored clean cut guys....

I see what you're saying (and vanilla really is my favorite ice cream), but it just doesn't seem that reality is supporting your arguement...

Reality is that clean cut guys propel sports to their highest levels as they appeal to the broadest demographics...be it mx, or basketball.

If you're in the "know" here "mr. industry" then I'd really appreciate some honest answers....

It just seems to me like the clean cuts guys are the "front runners" in terms of growing their sports, and the tatted up dudes are the back markets hanging off their coat tales trying to get their piece of the pie. Could be wrong though...just my perception.

So are you always a smartass or do you just play one in a movie? Do you REALIZE how large corporate America is? You just named 3 companies! LOL. One of which, Mattel, Deegan competes against with his Hevy Hitters line, which is one of the best selling toy lines at Wal-Mart. Hmmm, Wal-Marts a pretty large corporation.

You said it yourself. Target and Nike have their athletes they want to work with. As far as them being the two largest in our sport, hmmm did you read your Business Journal today or just the cover?

What about the corporate sponsors of JGR, whom Josh Grant rides for. Interstate Batteries, Toyota, Farm Bureau Insurance, Sport Clips, Snickers... Are you keeping up with all of this or did I lose you? And due to Josh's success AND his personality, ALL of these companies are taking an even BIGGER interest in OUR sport for the future.

And lastly Josh has a personal deal with Callaway Golf. Is that vanilla enough for you?

And as far as Deegan, he will driving a newly designed and released Ford Fiesta at the X Games. Along with that, Ford wants a piece of him and his truck racing. Hmmm, Ford might have their financial hands full, along with the rest of the American car industry, but theyre a pretty big deal here in the US and they want to use Deegan to release their new car to the World.

Once again, corporate America is alot larger than the 3 or 4 companies you listed. But then again, all you see is the vanilla. BTW, Deegan will have two more large American corporate sponsors on his rally car come X Games, but Ill let you read them on his Ford Fiesta while you sit on your couch in the middle of suburbia and watch.

And oh yeah, howz that Lebron James fella doing with corporate America with his arms sleeved in tattoos? He's a regular visitor here in Omaha with Warren Buffet. You know who Warren Buffet is dont ya? Hes an old, white billionaire and he doesnt seem to think there's anything wrong with a little attitude, style and tattoos.

So there ya go, straight from "Mr. Industry" himself. LMAO

First of all, Dick Head, I've never EVER been in a movie....

And second of all, I used Mattel, BofA, and Corn Flakes as EXAMPLES of corporate America...anyone with half a brain would know that...Hell, did you really expect me to list every company in corporate america??? (You really thought I though those three companies were "corporate america" didn't you??? pffft....come on dude, I ain't gonna list every company in the country) Those three were the first to pop in my head (I just paid my mortgage to BofA, ate cornflakes for breakfast, and have a mattel toy car sitting on my desk).

just because walmart sells his toys doesn't mean they "sponsor" him...He ain't advertising for them on his bike is he?

Sponsoring a team is far different than sponsoring a rider...and it seems they are in the sport because JRG is in the sport.

Good for Deegan for landing ford...even a blind squirrel can get a nut every now and then.

And who are Lebron James and Warren Buffet?? Never heard of em...

By the way, you can be clean cut and still be an individual and have personality, attitude and style...personality, attitude, and style aren't only traits of people with tatts and bad ass images....

Like I said to trip...we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I hate the wanna be bad ass image...I think its bad for growing the sport of motocross/supercross (maybe not for rally, or truck racing, or NBA teams. or freestyle..but bad for moto)...that's my opinion...you have a different one...I think you're wrong, you think I'm wrong...we'll leave it at that (and you can leave your condescending attitude at the door next time...thanks). Or maybe you need to name drop some more so you can give yourself some credentials...yeah, do that. But you know what they say about people that voluntarily provide their their credentials on internet message boards, right? or maybe you don't.

Whatever...got more important things to do right now...like go get another tat and pierce my nose (I've gotta get me some attitude personality and style)....have a good day.

LMAO Dick head huh? Enjoy your day vanilla. And next time you dont want an answer you dont like, dont ask. Good luck trying to find a personality... vanilla.

I asked you some questions, since you're apparently "in the know", hoping you'd actually answer them..and instead you came back with a condescending, name dropping "I"m better than you because I know deegan" attitude...and that's low class and cheesy on your part, but whatever...

Anyway, agree to disagree it is....

Nice edit, BTW....

The metal mulisha is stupid...and I can't believe a rider on JGR would be a member of the mulisha...JGR and the mulisha are polar opposites in terms of image and target demographic...and one is good for the sport, the other is an embarrasment.

A mulisha member being on the JGR team is counter productive to both organizations...

A "professional" is supposed to act like Joe Gibbs, NOT Brian Deegan....And the industry (riders, team managers, mechanics, team owners, etc) would do well to watch and learn from Joe Gibbs. If you want to attract more corporate sponsors, who's target demographic isn't the 16-24 "extreme sport" fringe demographic (which this sport will need to do in order to remain viable), then we need more Joe Gibbs and less mulisha.

Just sayin'...
Brian Deegan makes as much money as Pastrana, sorry to tell you so he must be doing something right.

not everyone is going to be cookie cutter in life.

the numbers don't lie, the Mulisha is here to stay.

I hate the podium recitals as much as the next guy...but I hate the bad ass wanna be image even more...
back to your quote: you do realize that it's possible to have tattoos and be from a different generation than yourself and still be a professional athlete, right?

you're not making any sense here, sorry.

Josh isn't J Law so STFU and move on with your pointless rant.

J Law looks normal and is the biggest misfit we have so explain that one to me.

No worries Titan. If I misunderstood your attitude earlier than I apologize for coming across condescending. I was just telling ya what I knew. Without mentioning Josh and Deegan, how else would I have explained it. It wouldnt have made any sense. They were the two riders we were discussing. So oh well. But.... you're still wrong. LOL See ya. And dammit, I just missed my 100 post in all this madness! Im gonna go pop some champagne...

umm, how about Verizon, does that work for you? Verizon has a piece of Brian and Mattel or some toy company like that, they also have a piece of him. just take a stroll into a Toys r Rus and/or Wal Mart and then get back to me.

I will say it for Denny so he doesn't have to..

Denny works for the largest marketing firm in the world; they're a division of GMR LIVE, take a look and then you'll understand where he is coming from.

on top of that, he won a supercross title so he has some knowledge about our sport and how it operates.

some of you know it all's wonder why people don't post in here and this is the exact reason.

you guys rattle off at the mouth and have no clue what you're talking about.

you stick to your day job and they will do the same.

now STFU.

Carey Hart is pretty damn marketable and has done very well for himself.. the guy is covered in tats. It is all about who the person is and what they are capable of.. not what they look like. this is old

Wait, I just found the photo of Josh Grant corrupting my 8 year old son. Look his hat is on crooked, he is headed for the dark side. Probably will become a gang banger.

Seriously people, Josh Grant is good people!

I'm glad you have had enough of this thread... why don't you just f-off then?

This is a good discussion. There are so many people that don't fit the "mold", so to speak. We think if someone keeps a close haircut, avoids body art, and says their prayers to baby jesus, then they are a good person. It is time for us to move past that as a society.

btw...... best thread ever.....

lastly..... i don't really care who Grant has for sponsors right now..... flipp'n "maybe" gang hand signs isn't going to help him get more.... it will endanger the ones he has now... the majority of people overlooked his "it's just racing" take out on a known injured rider a couple weeks ago to end his season..... the more questionable crap he pulls, the less people are going to look at his speed, and more they are gonna look at how to ditch him......

missed a lot I guess.

From an outside/fans perspective, Deegan and Josh are both serious about two wheels in their own way. I'm not into tats or the rebellion too much, but I don't think they are "bad" guys.

Clean cut? Not so much. But not bad guys.

They are kind of what everyone that supports JLaw wants to see. Attitude, but still giving their all to their racing/riding. And if you don't think Deegan has given his all, you need to check the vids of him in pieces after that big crash on the ice. That was hard to watch.
