Don’t know waiting to see if Honda will do anything.

Is this the manual that comes with the bike?! https://cdn.powersports.honda.com/documentum/MWOM/ml.remawmom.2022_crf250r_rx_owner_s_manual.pdf If so...WTF? There's basically zero maintenance information in there. I realize that an Owner's manual is...

If so...WTF? There's basically zero maintenance information in there. I realize that an Owner's manual is not a service manual but my '19 and '20 OM contained all the basic/routine maintenance as well as suspension and engine servicing.

There is also a more detailed manual included. It shows the basic maintenance including putting in a piston.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear that.

Good luck with your engine. Hopefully Honda stands behind it.

The oil is black as coal and smells bad like old used up oil. I am not sure what oil smells like that has fuel in it but given the plug fouling it would not surprise me if the injector is leaking.

I drained enough oil to see it had over a quart. I don’t have a big enough measuring cup to check for more than 1 quart. I used 10w30 Honda synthetic oil. The problems started about two hours after the last oil change. The first two changes the oil looked almost new when I took it out. I used the non synthetic Honda 10w30 oil the first 12 hours or so.

I did not use sealant on the valve cover, and the oil filter doesn’t have chunks of anything in it.
Bad filter install has starved it is my bet.

Have you checked clutch plates to see if burnt?

Take out subframe bolts linkage swing arm bolt and end pipe and push the subframe left the shock comes out

God bless you. I did this on my Yamaha but good to know it works on the Honda. Sending my suspension to Factory Connection. Talking to them, they have it dialed in and knew exactly the issues I have with it.

I disagree. I am 160, 6 feet tall, B class speed on my good days (at 34, less and less of those). It's sprung soft for me, if anything. After chatting with Jake at the PA FC shop, we agreed it can get too low in the stroke and feel bound up and pogo-sticky. The fork has a harsh and too fast of a transition in the mid stroke, which actually measures it's too soft. We are going to go stiffer in the rear because of my height, and might go stiffer in the front. They also have a link they are working on. He said they were trying a sag as low as 110.

I love the way it handles through turns, but on high speed rough stuff, I feel like I can't hit stuff with quite as much confidence, I want a bit more hold up with a less rear end high feeling.

Anyways, I don't think any of the issues are with it being sprung too softly, at least for my height, weight, speed.

I'm 165lb B level off road and they also put a set of one click stiffer springs up front. Stock rear spring since i'm only 5'6. The bike was night and day after they did the work.

That's good to know, I will go with stiffer springs up front too. Does the stiffer fork spring seem to get rid of that mid-stroke harshness?

Hi man, so how do you like the crf 2022 compared to your yami after 3 months of riding with it ? What's your final verdict ? Anything bad to point compared to the yzf ? Thanks

I'm still planning selling my yzf and will see if i go honda or the new sxf

Very happy with the purchase. My form / technique is much better on the Honda. It just feels right. What speaks volumes is that I almost never need the clutch because the roll-on power is so nice, and the bike handles so well, that I almost never have to drag the clutch in turns. My oil is scary clean after 2-3 hours ha.

Obviously as I talk about suspension, there are some areas for improvement, but I am comparing this bike to my Yamaha with Enzo stuff anyways, which had stiffer front springs. Overall, I am super happy and will be on red for a while. I think I can get the Honda where I want it suspension wise, whereas the Yamaha handling / ergos are the way they are, and they always bugged me.

Hi, the springs and valving changes got rid of it completely. It was extremely harsh in the woods with all the roots and hack we have down here in VA. Trying to adjust with clickers just made it worse since I had tried to go softer on compression.

I have a slip on ordered. I called Yoshimura and they told me I was the first to order one. The big online sites like Motosport and Rocky Mountain are ahead of me. They told me I won’t see it soon. They said full exhaust systems for the 250 was more of a priority. I asked to switch to full exhaust and he said I would be put at the bottom of the list, the problem with that is there was close to a thousand preorders for the full exhaust. I was told they were trying to start getting them to the public here in December. Since then I ordered a HGS exhaust. I have not cancelled my Yoshimura slip on. With all the preorders on the full exhaust, it may take some time to meet the demand.

What shop did you send it to? I’ve been working with Jake in PA.

Yes I used the same shop. They did my 19 RX300 and it was really good. But I do appreciate the changes the new bike is awesome.

Finally got to ride mine over the weekend, I love it, works so well. Now I just need more seat time now!

It's the first time owning a Honda & cornering is def. a noticeable change from my Blue rig, be fun to experiment with some settings in the future.

Let me know any settings you guys have picked up on that made positive changes, only changed my bars to Pro Taper Evo so far.

Hahha, love how everyone has different opinions on the '22 CRF250R suspension.

I think Ping said it was pretty much perfect, one click on the clickers... just read MXA today and they hated it, they said it was really bad... on Vital it's too soft, then too harsh...

I wonder what it will be for me at 185lbs and not very fast. Too bad it's winter outside and xmas... but in a few months...

I think you will be getting some stiffer springs on each end. It's not too bad stock. With a revalve it works awesome.
