He got invited and paid to race at his home county, who would say no to that, if you’re healthy and got the green light from the team.

If other rides said no or didn’t get the green light it’s not Marv his fault or problem.

Marv won easy yes, but it’s not a cherry pick where he first looks to the entry list and then decides to go.

He will most likely retire from the sport in May next year, so this is probably his last SX race in French as a full time rider wich most people don’t recognize or thinking about today.

Lets enjoy some Marv moves before it’s over..Kissing

Dude I hope he doesn’t retire yet. But it sure does seem like he’s going to with the contract only through may.

With no whoops and very straightforward rythim sections, it was good for a retired sx champ like Reed. It made it safer. Just corners and jumps. That was a good call. GP riders weren't out of their element so much and could get in the fight. Everybody was racing nice and that track was hard to pass on. Imagine if Barcia had raced it and got a bad start. It woulda been ugly 😳

With all due respect, if there had been whoops, Reed would likely have done even better and Brayton may have been pressuring Marv.

Yep! Why not pad the bank account, and look like a hero in front of your home country? You’d be an idiot not to.

Marvin would have won even if they hadn’t “pussified” the track by leaving out the whoops…except he’d have won by a much larger margin with his American SX skills.

As a professional athlete, especially in the off season, why wouldn't he only enter the races which pay the best, or that he has the best chance of winning? That's what cherry picking is.

Yeah i agree that would have been to their benefit if they were big, but GP riders never hit whoops like that, so it would have been harder on them. My point was that it was smart to have a fairly tame sx track with no whoops, to make the racing more competive and less dangerous for former racers like Reed and GP riders who never race sx.

I haven't watched WHO practicing for this event? I don't know who you think I'm referring to or why. The only thing i was trying to convey was that leaving out narly whoops and super tricky rithym sections was a plus in that it allowed non sx specialists like Cairoli, Fevre etc and former racers like Reed to not be at a huge disadvantage against a top, current sx specialist like Marvin. It wasn't to put any rider or riders down.

Well i never knew of the incident you're talking about, but i'll take your word for it. I don't know if that would have made a difference this year though if Barcia had raced the Paris sx. Maybe it would. I dont know. Who is "Aranda" and what happened between him and Barcia on the track and off the track? I'm curious now.
