The mistake was not picking up the checkbook and sign guys like Desalle, Paulin or Anstie.
I presume you are fully aware of the injuries he has been riding with the last 2 years and with that seeing his results what he has achieved.

Never mind not making any of them public.

Reneaux to Yamaha MXGP next year. Not sure if that's old news but to me that's surprising. Hope it works out for him. Contract through 2023 as well, so it may have been a smart move if he struggles in his first year on the big bike

Renaux to MXGP is an odd one to me.

Put simply, why move up when you can stay down?

I've no doubt he can do well and he's incredibly consistent so he will be ok, but once you're out of MX2 that's that chapter closed pretty much.

His stock is up big time now he is World Champion. What if his next two seasons in MX2 are a disaster? Vialle is still there, Geerts, Benistant and Guadagnini coming up. If the offer is there, I would take it too.

The only reason I can think of is that his deal runs through 23. So if his 22 sucks, he won't be looking for a new MXGP ride in 23.

We will know very soon (EICMA) if Renaux stays in MX2 or not for next year...
We knew 3 weeks ago, it was no secret or surprise.

Go up while you can, he knows he will have to beat all his team mates, and Vialle and Hofer next year.

Nothing wrong with it, you have clauses in contracts for a reason, if RVDM hadnt nailed Vaille, he would be in MX2 for another year at least.

Who will say a MXGP ride is succeeded guaranteed?
It’s only getting harder and tougher from now on.

MXGP has more chances for Disaster for any rider then being one off the topdogs in 250 and staying down a extra year.

The speed and consistently results of Renaux this year, he only should have to worry about Vialle if he stayed down.

I personally would have stayed down another year. You can win and podium allot, wich something might never happend in MXGP again.

I dont think you move up to mxgp because you're afraid you cant beat the mx2 guys.
Imo its probably a combo of a good contract, thinking you can compete in mxgp & no worries that injuries in mx2 in22 hurt your chance of a mxgp contract

Haarup probably with team 114 Honda for 2022...
Funny when they blame the bike for the poor starts and sign probably with Honda. Hopefully for him the 22 Honda is allot better, because I didn’t see a 21 Honda upfront at the starts Grinning

Loikw all things MX, there is no proper journalism, but the fact he had a clause in his contract to go 450 was know about ages ago, even before the last 3 Trentino rounds.

Theywait till EICMA to announce, but like Tomac to Star, is was never a secret.

Well i have no opinion on Renaux moving up... But i know he is pretty cool dude. Maxime got czech race mechanic in kemea and czech girlfriend. And his gf colluded with one czech junior mx rider to made surprise detour in czechia for Maxime and surprised bunch of young kids on local track closing the season.

He hosted small meet and greet with mx2 title celebration followed by a few laps on the track with kids on stock yz250f.

Doing a Tiga, perhaps.

I've no idea about Renaux's contract, other than the oft mentioned 'MXGP Clause'

Tiga Won MX2, and went straight to MXGP, too. I'm not sure if he already had, what was it, a 5 year HRC contract? Or, if he negotiated it after the MX2 Title.

It's a bloody big ask going to MXGP, I wish Renaux well. Good on him.

I lived in Praha for a few years back then, most beautiful city in the world (IMO) and i missed the food there (specially the Smažený sýr haha)

I told you MX Addict... Don't know about the clause but the MXGP move was already in the works at Lacapelle, Got it from a really reliable source.

It is in south Moravia. In Miroslav. Here is link on google maps It isn't czech nationals caliber of track neither does there our national junior championhip take place, it is just local track. But it is near his gf's parents place so convinient for kidnapping. :D

Kinda bummer it was so secret only his gf and that one guy above knew about it otherwise it is like 1 hour drive for me. Not every day you can shake hands with world champ. Grinning

Dude "smažený sýr" aka "smažák" is killer. Laughing Literally it will kill you with cholesterol and high blood pressure. But yeah it is our form of local "fast food". Prague is nice i guess. (as a former citizen of Brno - second biggest city in CZ - i am legally obliged to not talk in good terms about Prague - sorta like cali vs. texas rivalry. Silly )

It’s not like he is out off a ride, he still could stay at 250 with an official Yamaha team. With a proper deal because he is the champ right.

Personally I would have said no, yes I should wanted to defend the title with a #1 on the bike.

That MXGP ride will come for him no matter what.

You go up when you get the chance.

Renaux, did not luck into the championship, he lucked into having a shot at it. Vialle getting hurt , and him being the next guy in line means his win was made a little easier, but he still had to be the best of the rest, and he may even have won it outright .. he was fast and solid. And fully deserving .

What he has now done , is displaced Watson from the factory team , AND leap frogged Jago Geerts .

He has bet on himself, and can you honestly say that he isnt as good as Febvre was when he went up?

So you go now, with your title under your arm, and a factory contract in your pocket, or stay in MX2 and dont win, have a mare of a year, which could have seen Watson step up a level (which i believe would have happened) and get a new contract. And you might get beat by Geerts, who is in front of you in the queue.

That interview shows he is sharp, your best time to go up as a winner, nobody will expect him to win in 450, just like Galser and Febvre.

He has good management,by the looks of it.

France needs a 2nd good 450 rider.

I rate Maxime pretty high and like his chances in mxgp IF he can improve his starts. Some guys are better starters on big bikes. I rate him higher than Watson, Olsen and I think he will beat them most of the time. He is a great talent but injuries slowed his career. I don’t think he will win, but speedwise I belive he can run with anyone except Herlings.
