Think that was a couple months ago. Think he’s going to give SX another go.

What OP is saying is that the pain is back again.

If true, I wouldn't expect any official word right until A1 press conference.

Well that blows. If it turns out to be more than rumor, I think he's safe in some kind of position at Husky, either doing the same thing he did last summer, or even moving into an in-house job.

Seat bouncing and hitting whoops must not be kind to you back.
Maybe outdoors could have been easier to do.

The thing about being 31 with his back issue is, it ain’t going away. I’m sure that a guy with his money and suppor has tried everything, and if he was a normal guy, he’d be fine, but he’s not.

I sure hope he can come back, because I feel he was cheated out of running the 1, and that would be a crappy way to go out.

It’s more difficult for him because he is basically seat bouncing every whoop

Hopefully he is getting the best possible advice, medical attention and support.

If he continued to heal up and maybe return for outdoors?

This is all speculation of his back injury anyways...

Was stoked to see he was gonna try to come back this year... but man, those back injuries can be hard to deal with on a normal gig, let alone moto

Those don't really completely heal. The vertebrae can wear from rubbing together too much and then those sharp points push into muscle and cause issues. It is possible to mitigate somewhat with training but there is a limit to what can be done. It is mostly genetic.

Hope he comes back, but he's had an amazing career. Whatever happens, we have been lucky as fans to have him and I hope his back is good enough for him to enjoy his family and retirement.

Being 31 with back issues, there are plenty of times When riding/racing that I feel it in my back and I’m nowhere near ZO. I couldn’t imagine trying to do this stuff at his level having to ride that hard.

People are touching on some good points here. Zach's back injury must be a huge deal for it to affect him this seriously. He's a tough dude and has had his share of this stuff. He knows how to handle it.

Still, it seems to me he hasn't had a truly lengthy period of "time off" like an injury of this magnitude could require. If that's the case? Hopefully he can take some time to heal up and maybe be back in the future. Maybe the Outdoors...?

I hope he's able to recover, be happy and healthy and do things that keep him stoked.

He can mitigate the herniated disc and he probably could suck it up and race, however, as already mentioned, at his level of racing its not a good idea for a few reasons.

He most likely is thinking about post racing life and the decisions he makes now will affect him later in his life.

He has had a great career with a awesome journey right up to his final championship.

Wish him all the best going forward with the next chapter.

Exactly! There’s plenty of time before A1 and wacko zacho is a true racer! I’m still hoping he’s feeling good and shows up.

He is not retiring. There was an interview recently where he said that his back was doing better.

I can bet that he is not concerned about what he should could do. When and if he decides what he is doing it’s for him and not us. Quality of life is important with a family. He has already proven to himself and us he has what it takes to be a champion and I respect him for that.

There has not been anything official yet.
Feel free to come back and correct me if I’m wrong ! He’s ridden since he did the interview about coming back, so don’t base anything on that.
