We have guys who can’t understand why they don’t get first pick of shift, vacation, and top step pay from day one. It’s unbelievable. Try to explain the concept of seniority-based picks and benefits and they look like Odie on Garfield, just staring and blinking.

Two words: Participation trophies. We allowed an entire generation to believe that there’s no difference between a winner who worked hard to get there and someone who just showed up. It also explains why so many think that you should restructure your entire life just so they won’t be offended.
As a member of this so called generation, not one of us wanted those stupid ass trophies your generation shoved down our throats. . .

Mate, seniority based anything is the very definition of participation trophy. You want more money and better vacation just for not dying another year?

Hardly. While there are certainly folks who have only contributed their presence, the overwhelming majority contributed to the organization, gained skills and experience, attended training, and likely made sacrifices for the company and/or staff. The new hire has done none of those things (yet).

Seniority WITH the experience to back it up is totally acceptable and I'd like to see loyalty and being a capable dude who's been around and learnt what he can get rewarded. In your case that sounds like what's happened, good on you.

I can't speak for anyone else but, the times I see a problem with it is, when some clueless prick gets promoted *solely* because they've filled a seat at the same place for 15 years. That's very much a participation trophy situation.

Neither has anything to do with Stew or Chase though. Another vote here for Cade going down the "all publicity is good publicity" route, no way he can be serious??

While that *may* be true for some people, seniority does not recognize any of those things. It is simply recognizing one's existence. Myself, I prefer a more merit based system.

What’s with today’s LCQ guys thinking they are better than they are?
Or that they're owed more respect than the sports best. I mean you both race dirt bikes, they just happen to race less and make more.

It's almost as if it's the end result of a specific platform allowing Privateers the chance to have their moment, some are just too stupid with what they're given and say stupid things like this.

Or when The Cat stuck a sock in it, that was pretty stupid too.

Stews still on the “can’t train with your competition” band wagon. Further proof of a comeback

I’m not trying to be a Dick here, but expecting things because of seniority is literally everything you’re pissed about.

I have to wonder how much James personnel success and willingness to invest to achieve it manifests in his style of instruction.
I noticed mostly in the Supercross series Chase and his attempts at obstacles. One stands out which I don’t remember the track. He came up short and possibly injured his jaw/face. But I did notice a intensity that seemed on the edge of being in control.
I would think James wouldn’t just help anyone. There must obviously be a discussion over how invested as a rider you will be. I would think few would be willing to adopt the level of intensity/commitment that James clearly had.

It was a interesting union of those two. Chase should be commended for his willingness to seek an edge through that instruction. Hopefully James continues to instruct and stay close to this industry.

Show me any set of whoops these days that compares to this

https://youtu.be/5LcQ8j2wwm0
This was after they cut them down during the day. The first factory practice guys were not really making it through clean and most of them were on their heads when they put in a charger, changes came fast. You couldn't really roll them either, sucked for us mortals. Toughest set I've put wheels on.

Sexton posted on Instagram or somewhere how the metal on the bars was gouged from his mouth smacking it. Gnarly.

No, it isn’t even close to what most of us are saying.

It isn’t a ‘seniority’ issue, but an ability issue. We aren’t talking about Joe Jones who finished 8th out of 9 in his local C class consistently back in the day but should be afforded more respect because of ‘seniority’. We’re talking about one of the arguably top 3-5 racers of all time in his prime.

Seniority has zero to do with this, but the disrespect from a racer with a grand total of 1 top fifteen finish is closer to the actual issue…..
