Lol...some of us just appreciate work ethic and moral character. Seems pretty superficial to just like a rider because he's good on a bike. But hey...

Man, any guy who has come through the ranks to contend and win any sort of elite title in motocross/supercross has an entire lifetime of hard work, sacrifice and overcoming adversity.

Maybe so and that year was great for him. Since then he was on factory bikes and showed he had the speed and did nothing with it. He doesn't have this reputation because people are picking on him, it's because it is reality. I wonder what Jeremy Albrecht would say about him? His own teammates said he didn't have the fitness/work ethic to perform.

I've been one, in the past to criticize guys like Hill for "wasting his talent", or "taking a spot from a hardworking privateer"...and although I still feel a little like that, I credit Justin for at least having the balls to climb back into the game knowing full well he'll get shit on from a lot of forum experts for doing it. I hope he is willing to bring it 100% for not only his dignity, but for the chance the team is taking in signing him as well as for the money they have invested. I mean...I'm sure he signed for cheap, probably mostly based on performance...but it still cost them money. I'd hate for them to slap their signage on a loser, or someone who doesn't provide them with bang for the buck.

Our sport is dwindling...and any addition to a line is a welcome one. I hope Hill proves the naysayers (and me included) wrong this time at bat.
Our sport is dwindling?

Are you arguing that it's not? Check out the crowd numbers declining indoors and out over the last five years. You can blame one year on Covid...but not the others. Teams that once had unlimited funds, and could run 3-4 or even 5 riders under their tents, are doing two man teams. Yeah, from what I can see...our sport is doing anything but growing. Sad but seemingly true.
If outdoors having the best tv viewing season and dirtbike sells being at an all time high is dwindling then sign
Me up.

Probably will be another "coulda-shoulda-woulda" story.
HOWEVER! Do appreciate him going back out there.

All irrelevant at this point if he’s basically starting over. Maybe he had some burnout, took a year off for some family time and now he’s fired up and ready to get after it. It’ll be cool see how it plays out either way.

Agreed. It all adds to the storyline and will be great to watch regardless.

Thing is, those are not mutually exclusive. He won a title so you know he has the work ethic. I would guess, since the sheriffs excepted him, he has the character… and I know he’s good on a bike, well, because he won a championship.

I’m perfectly fine with Justin maybe putting in less effort in motocross and more into his personal life. I wouldn’t say he’s pissing away his talent, but rather he’s showcasing it! He isn’t J-Law-2.0.

So it was a family move, I can get on board with that. Hope we see some quads this year.
I don't know if we'll see quads, but having another fast guy on track is always a good thing.

Justin is a fun personality to have at the races and surely we'll see him running up front (whether it's in a heat race, LCQ, etc) and nice to be back in an already ridiculously stacked 450 class.

Interesting quote from the interview: "At the time I was hitting the gym, lifting weights, trying to be a strong man. Obviously that is horrible for motorcycles which is why I didn’t think I would feel so good."

Isn't lifting weights part of training for moto? Maybe he is talking about the type of weight lifting he was doing?

If you’re trying to put on a ton of mass, you’re doing it wrong. The top guys lift but more CrossFit style with circuits in addition to tons of time on the bicycle for cardio.

It’s already excuses 101. I can’t even remember the last time anyone that was casually into the sport let alone a professional thought body building was the answer. I guarantee you no one on JGR or MCR was telling him to bulk up.

Here’s to staying healthy and getting good results but he’s a great speaker in the sense of knowing what to say.

Because if you can't ride a motocross bike, you can't play a guitar?

From the sound of it, it sounds like he was saying that once he got away from moto, he started a program to bulk up and look like a badass. So he apparently knows the difference between lifting for bulk and lifting for moto.
But then someone explain Jeff Ward. His riding style was pretty much bench pressing the motorcycle around the track. Grinning
