First real MX bike was a 74 Honda Elsinore. Had a 71 Yamaha DT 250 converted into an MX before than. My girlfriend at the time got this pic and told me to take off my boots and leathers before I hit this mud puddle. She even took the rubber band out of her hair so my bell bottoms wouldn't get snagged in the chain.

Awesome picture, the 70's look like a blast.
and a great Era to be a motocrosser

My first bike was the iconic 1974 Honda MR50 that I got when I was 9 yrs old (top pic). I was a perfect bike to learn on with a manual clutch and and adjustable throttle settings. I road the wheels off this thing until I eventually outgrew it and traded it in for a new '78 XR-75. Back in 2008, I got an itch to have one again, so I found one on eBay and restored it (bottom pic). It now sits in my office, and when I look at it, it still puts a smile on my face like it did when I was a kid!

Both my first bike, and in keeping with tradition… my Kids first bike in behind mine 😎
When they took my original Z50 for a spin (when they were small yet) ,gotta admit… I was teared up!
Was freakin awesome👍

My dog's vet has one of those sitting outside his clinic. If I remember, I'll grab a pic of it next time I go there.

First bike was a 1981 Honda XR 80…I got it in about 1989 or 1990 (5th or 6th grade)…rode the wheels off that thing…up my parents street four houses was open desert…I never remember changing the oil or cleaning the air filter (my dad probably did, I just never noticed) all I did was put gas in it…and I rode it EVERY SINGLE DAY after school and all summer. Until I just got so awkwardly big for it…about 1993 or 1994.

Came home from school one day in 1995…and there was a 1994 Honda CR250 in the garage. And that was my second bike….quite the jump. But I rode that bike every single day…started racing some moto on that. So it was either open desert or the moto track whenever I could get my dad to drive me over there (we had one truck and it was my dads daily…so I needed him to take me).

Italjet JC50 from 1980, dad learnt me to drive it when I was 5.
Must have been 1992.
Had a loop in the yard, later we moved and i rode all around the fields.

A 1972 Honda CT70. Wish i still had it...... Rode my cousins Z50 for a couple years first, but this was MY first bike....

I had that bike in the 90,s I thought it was a 71. My 1st bike was a new 77 orange trail 70 parents divorced dad said it was mine. My Mom said I had to weight 90 lbs to ride it, I weighed 75 at 9. I tried to gain wt but couldn’t so I filled my pockets with sinkers and put books down my pants. She busted me eventually she gave in. The farmer I worked for was a big brother to another kid, he and his brothers came out to the farm for 10 days. We all rode the bike my dad came and took it away when I was gone. I go into the garage and my bike was gone, I asked my Mom where it was she said he came and got it. I was never told where it went, yrs later I found out he gave it to my cousins they brought it somewhere whenever I came to visit. The farmer I worked for bought a new xl100 I wanted a xr75 bad. My 1st Mx bike 87 cr125 I bought on my birthday 11-18 in 1989. I rode whenever I was home from out of state working. 91 1st race didn’t ride all year busy working. I signed up for 125 a because it was more laps 8 and won the 1st moto full gate of 43. 2nd moto 2 corners to go for another win I cross rutted on a double left the throttle wo until I landed upside down on my head. I couldn’t move anything for 2-3 minutes. Panic sets in when i tried to grab my visor and can’t move my arm then trying to move my legs and can’t. Yamaha dealer offered me a free yz125 from that race . I turned it down my nsr ported 87 cr125 was my dream bike. Pic of lauching off a ski flying jump learning how to ride 5 th 6th gear wo. And sand r

iding I rode with a kid a few times he won 125c then went to 125 a, we slammed each other a lot. 1st race I figured I,m faster than Chad Parker he was a great jumper tho.why not race him

Originally, a pull start mini bike. Then we worked our way into a 1978 XR75 (In the Fall of 99') progressed onto a 2000 TTR125L and then into a 2002 CR125. Good times!

1976 Honda Z50. It was bulletproof. I shared it with my brother and we beat the tar out of it.
