I do think the whole set up of the top 20 scoring points and the last 20 essentially just gumming up the works as a bit off.

And the last 10 are generally so far off pace it shouldn’t even really be the same class.

But people get incredibly upset over comments like this.

And yes the 40th place rider can smoke me. Hence why I’m not out there.
Even DW15's best lap was 5 seconds off of the fastest pace and he was top 10. Sometimes pulling back the curtain and exposing the truth...

Truth? The truth is that one lap out of 18, or in the case of the first 450 moto, 19 laps doesn’t mean a damn thing ( the 450’s ran 19 laps because, shocker, they were faster). The 450’s are always on a rougher track as I’ve stated previously the average lap times tell the true story.
So you think we should have just one premiere class because a few 250 riders, on a much smoother track, at one race, ran a faster lap time? Of course at Unadilla where the 450’s ran first Roczen ran a fast lap of 2:19 while Cooper ran a fast lap of 2:23….Well there goes that theory…
Not to mention your idea of having one premier class would cause fewer factory rides, fewer 2nd tier support rides and would actually hurt more than help the sport.
I can’t wait to hear your explanation on how this would actually help the sport….

Triple Crowns and MXoN are some of the best entertainment out there for a fan. MXoN has always mixed up bike sizes, and there have been many surprises over the years, some still talked about as legend. This sport is about entertainment, not a jobs program.

Until they race against each other…..450’s consistently run faster avg lap times on rougher tracks than the 250’s…even with all those 250’s running those faster laps on a completely smooth track the 450’s ran 19 laps to their 18 because they reached the finish line before the 30 mins ran out and the 250’s didn’t….
But isn't it close enough that the whole "who is faster" doesn't really matter? That alone says a lot. Like what are you going to do, say, "those other guys turn 1:49's and these guys turn 1:50's, this sucks"...?

Ok....so you are fine with fewer people making money or having rides for entertainments sake...This is how you kill the sport not grow it...It may be about entertainment to you but I can guarantee that there are many riders making a living off this sport that they put their heart and soul into that will tell that the show is secondary to them making money.

Again how many triple crowns were there this year? How many are on the schedule next year? The answers will tell you how the riders and teams truly felt about them.

Fastest riders in 1 class doesn’t mean fire everyone.

Remember when mxgp ran a combined superfinal instead of moto 2 for 2 rounds in 2013 and it was a complete disaster?

Riiiight....How so? do you really think that Star would keep all their riders if their was only one premiere class? What about Pro-Circuit? do you think Kawi would still support them? What will guys like Savatgy or Bogle or Deano or many others when you take two classes and combine the talent into one? You're nuts if you think that will work and not cost any jobs....many of the mechanics and support people will also be without jobs...please explain how in your plan people don't lose jobs and rides...

Barely remember. Seems like it was in a rodeo arena by a local club. Can't recall the details?

Frankly the factories might be thrilled to cut their budgets. About having a class for bikes they sell, KTM's best selling bike, and Beta's aren't track bikes, but they are 2t's.

With action sports growth, and Nascar and NFL/NBA kneelers fans are looking for something.
Giving them a diluted product where it's not clear which class is fastest has done much harm to the sport. You can't have 5 pro champions a year and expect for normies to respect or understand it.
This is 1 reason why the Grand National proposal makes sense. Leaving out the 250 rider's from that is eliminating top 10 talent, but not racing heads up against each other and East / West make no sense either to count them.
The average non moto fan (target audience) has no idea about a 250/450 being different, most enthusiast's couldn't tell either without the sound turned up.

I can't believe I actually read through this thread. What a waste of time.

This is why Beasley doesn't allow 250s to run in the 450 classes in amateur races. Remember RV2 spanking the world on a 250F here at the MXDN?
Maybe it's all those low-rpm off-cambers. But Budds also has massive hills where you would think a 450 would make a big difference.

So back to the 250/450 class parity. The assumption that 1/2 of the rider's and teams go away if you have 1 real Premier class is misguided, and would depend on how it was managed. Mostly the fast guys get bumped and the slow guys get dropped a class.

The 250 class has generally been the deeper class in the US outdoors with more top rides available. I was watching the 2006 TGO today and the 250 class was stacked. In the early 90s it was the same with the 250/500 split and not all manufacturers having a 500.

DF14 does the quad and isn't in the top 9.

The fastest Austrian bike was RJ.
It was actually the privateer. Ty Masterpool that was the fastest on an Austrian bike.

Good catch, my bad. Where would you put him in a combined class? Seems like he deserves a factory seat?

I thought it was already legal to ride a 250f in the 450 class

It is. This thread (if you jumped in late) is about my fantasy advocating for 1 Premier class.

2.1 Engines
a. Engine Displacements:
150 – 250cc 2-stroke
249 – 450cc 4-stroke

Dude do you have no pride? Thread after thread, post after post, you are made to look like an illiterate fool, yet you just move on and double down on your idiocy. Put down the keyboard, walk outside, breathe the fresh air, look at the sky, ride your Beta, you really need it.

Unfortunately the next thread will probably be "why does the sky have to be blue, it should be green"

Thanks for the bump!

The only green sky I ever saw was an F5 tornado, no thanks.

You don't need my help with bumps, you bump your own threads all day every day just to get further abused. It's a weird ride you're on right now, but you really seem to be enjoying the attention.
