I've always felt for the guys who spent their whole career dealing with McGrath, Carmichael, Everts or Cairoli...

That’s like saying “take RC out of the results from 03-06and Chad has way more titles” no shit. But guess what? He was there and beat chads ass. Just like Eli has beat some ass since 2013.

Ken and Marv have been really good since they came over here, but you can’t just take Eli out of the equation. It’s stupid.
I agree fully with your anti ‘what if’ argument and the other sentiment that followed. That’s not what I was trying to say though.

The thread is ‘first American’ and America was defended by someone saying “ Post the last 5 years of title winners sx,mx”.
My reply was meant to point out one American in particular had been dominant in those titles and without him America hasn’t been dominant. That is; one individual was dominant, not one country. Obviously I didn’t express my opinion very clearly, but all good if people want to get their panties in a twist about it.

I actually think the whole Euro vs USA theme is pretty pointless, but it’s fun. Any opportunity to have some piss-taking banter is the Aussie way. We don’t get offended by it and often forget that others do.

The US was so dominant in moto for a long period and it’s exciting when the tables turn occasionally. That’s also good for the sport.

Cool, you have your opinion and I have mine, all good.
Thankfully we’re not all the same.

This is an American National Championship. Not the World Series of Motocross.

I'm really bad at remembering results from the past.
In modern days, were there full non american podiums and when?
I just can't remember...

If you took Tomac out of those results, it would be Chase Sexton 4th, Cooper Webb 5th, and Christian Craig 6th.

7 in the last 5 years? Dizzy
From memory you'd have to go back all the way to 2011 to get to number 7.
Roczen has 3, DF has 3. Wilson in 2011 would be number 7. 5 of those are in the 250 class

If you take Eli out of his last 3 outdoor titles that gives Ken 2 and Marv 2....where are the other 3?

I was counting 450 and 250 MX and SX, forgot to include Marvin's title. He only has one 250 SX title. Regional though

Again mate, the Americans have more titles in your hypothetical even without Tomac. So how can you say he’s our saving grace?

You can’t cower out of the debate by saying “my panties are in a twist”, I’m just trying to prove what you are saying is factually incorrect.

Wow…..must have hit a nerve?

First off; “cowering” out of the argument? Ha you do realise the world doesn’t revolve around America??? There are different time zones….
Secondly, who would have thought that Americans have won more American titles than anyone else? Shocked!
Lastly, I was just taking a dig at ya’s because Americans haven’t been as dominant as they once were. That’s what the OP was saying, tongue in cheek. A bit of banter is fun! It’s fine if you don’t agree. Fine if I’m straight out wrong. Not fine if you don’t have a sense of humour.

It’s great to be patriotic, but you don’t need to be jerks about it. Lighten up, the rest of the world would appreciate that. We’re all here because we’re moto fans.

LOL. I'm old enough to know exactly what the OP is referring to Smile I remember when They made the rule about foreign riders not being able to win our National Championship because Pierre Karsmakers kicked everybody's ass the year before lol.

Population of the World: 7,900,000,000
Population of Europe: 742,650,000 or 9.4%
Population of U.S.A: 328,239,523 or 4.2%
Little bit of a difference in talent pool size...
