2021 MotoGP Season

My point was that the closed borders are almost unanimously supported, therefore the motogp and F1 were always going to be tough, we really have had very low hospital admissions and death relatively speaking.

Lockdowns have been the contentious part however the truth is the vast majority of Australians outside of Victoria have only had very short lockdowns.
I think our strategy has worked well for us, however we need a better plan for the path out of the full suppression strategy
Although finally that is starting to get some momentum

Morbidelli seems to be the most deserving of the Yamaha factory seat, but his contract with SRT has to be sorted first. It seems if Yamaha is entertaining others they do not respect the season Franco put together in 2020 on a year old package, or that he landed a podium this year on a 2 year old bike! Or as said earlier, maybe the relationship has soured between Yamaha and SRT enough that politics keep the 21 out of the factory team.

If Morbidelli does get the factory seat, SRT is in a really weird spot. Hire Dovi, but the team has tried to have a developmental strategy and Dovi is pretty long in the tooth. Rumours that they have been wooing Raul Fernandez, but KTM must want to keep him in the fold, and that the 2nd seat at Tech3 might be his. Also, rumours that one of the two SRT seats could get influenced by Dorna to have an American (Gerloff, Roberts) or Brit (Dixon, Lowes). Interesting times.

I mean selfishly I would like to see an american on the SRT squad or any team. I really think it would be good for Roberts to put in a solid effort at Moto2. Not sure if his bike is top notch or not. Just don't want to see him get spit out after a year and go to WSB or motoamerica.

Hugo Millan a 14year old racer died last weekend from injuries at a race at Aragon. Super sad deal. Can’t imagine what the parents are going through.

Well boys, with Rossi retiring, it looks like I'll be heading to austin for the GP. I have never seen Rossi race nor have I ever been to a GP before. I was supposed to go to his home race last year, had everything booked and we all know what happened.

Anyways it's a sad day, but im praying covid keeps its sh!t together so Austin doesn't get canceled.

Skeef I am in the exact same position and am thinking of doing the same. I’ve watched every race since 2003 but never attended a GP and would love to see Rossi ride with my own eyes.

I priced it up last night. I think I could do it for 2500.00. Checked some of the VIP packages, pretty pricey.,

The Doctor and Nicky in the Corkscrew when they were teammates.
Those were two LOST years for Vale that might have secured what "would have been " a 10th Championship.

Yes MotoGP is like nothing else, but since they moved it from Seca and the BEAUTIFUL ride up Hyw 1, I'm not gonna ride my bike to Texas.

Such a bummer, I really miss those days...

Wow what is it with the Red Bull Ring and horrendous crashes?
The two bikes on fire was awful to see. Glad Pedrosa and the other rider were not injured too bad.

In other news did you guys see where Gardner and Fernandez got promoted to the Tech 3 KTM in MotoGP for the 2022 season.
Well deserved as both these young riders are class acts, FAST with a LOT of talent-- a Sponsors Dream!

Which leads me to my next point I know I'm freaking old and admit I do not get the tattoo sensation. I generally don't mind a few but some of these guys take it too far.

Check out Allen Canet. Do you think he would actually get signed on by somebody like Honda or KTM with FULL neck tats and hand tats? He looks like he should be doing backflips and join the Mulisha. Laughing

I shake my head when I see guys that are broke or homeless yet they have spent thousands on tats. Blink
It's just a different time and generation.

Hate tatoos to.

I got to say Mir was right, he complained that Suzuki did not develop as the other factories and therefore they didn't give him the right tools to win. They added the holeshot and he has been all weekend on top. Extremely talented rider.

Well good to hear the Soap Opera is over! Laughing
Let's hope it's not his career ender like what happened to Lorenzo when he was tired of being in Rossi's large shadow and left a great bike in Yamaha.

I hope he does good as I like an underdog and Aprilia is just that an underdog. Keep hoping Espargo's bad luck would end but it was not to be as Marquez was using him as a moving berm in the fast first corner. WTF is up with that! And no mention of a review by the race stewards or nothing, seemed kinda dangerous and overly aggressive to me.

Did anyone notice how friendly and happy maverick seems to be? I've never seen that guy smile and wave as much as I did last weekend!
I think he was in a " I wanna be like Rossi" mode so that potential Factories/Sponsors might sign him. Cheerful

That was good to see Suzuki finally got the holeshot device.

But I must admit I thought it was ONLY for starts--hence the name.

It was cool to see the announcers explain it in action and Mir was using it coming out of corners
That's pretty incredible and just one more thing for those riders to think about as they race a track going 212 MPH! Woohoo

Im tatted but nothing like arronGrinning The stigma behind tattoos is a little dated. His neck is alot for me personally. But his arms/legs are done really well. He has some quality work. It's an unpopular opinion I get it but I have never had problems with having them.

The Ring never provides great racing in my eyes. I am not a fan of the track for GP racing. After the whole Zarco almost killing Rossi and Mav last year I lost my understanding for why they race there.

Yea I know I'm just old (63) and grumpy. Laughing

Like I said a few I don't mind but when a BEAUTIFUL girl is Tatted up it kinda spoils the beauty for me.

I just don't know what he's thinking though.

Ex: say he's as fast as Fernandez who do you think Mr Honda would pick as a rider to represent Honda?

I agree with you I wouldn't want the face of my team having his whole neck done. Fabio has his arm done and back of neck and he is the face of motogp right now. But again, it's not the look you want riding for your team. He is riding really well for being on top 10 bike. Moto2 is stacked not sure if he'll ever make it up to GP but all the power to him if he can!

Ha funny you say that about Fabio's Tramp Stamp on the BACK of his neck! Laughing

Was going to say something awhile back but forgot to.

He got that after he ALREADY established himself as one of the fastest riders in the World so he's excused....Cheerful

"Fabio gets away with it because he’s so talented."

Can't believe nobody warned Fabio that only Ho's get Tramp Stamps and that fad went away in the 90's Laughing

Well he's French so maybe that's a thing over there....

He’s on a different Chassis then the other guys at the top. That chassis was good 3 years ago but, doesn’t seem to be up to par the last 2 years. Navarro and Canet are on the same chassis. Navarro can barely get top 10’s now.

Jabroni where are you to 'esplain this "Holeshot device "?

This whole time I thought it was ONLY for squating the REAR END of the bike.

Don't they squat the front as well like moto?

And if that's the case when they hit it coming out of a corner is it squatting the whole bike or just the rear end man that's a lot of stuff to think about for these guys as fast as they are going on a knife edge.

is Suzuki the only one doing it out of corners or is everybody doing it?
I thought you had the inside line to the factories come on spill the beans! Woohoo

I skipped through alot of the race so I missed where or how they were using it. I am also curious to how it works during the race.

Do you have the MotoGP package?
These guys in this thread talked me into it and I have no regrets it's worth every penny you get a lot of coverage practice all the qualifying and all the races all 3 classes anyway they showed Mir using it during practice and coming out of a right hand corner they showed him flicking his left hand and the bike was squatting but it was hard to tell because it was also accelerating.

A lot of technology for sure not to mention the lights they have to read.
I'm spitballing here but like Formula 1 I think they have a light(s) to let them know to change maps to conserve fuel.
also:
Long lap penalty
Come into pit
Black flag
???

The Ducati’s, Yamahas and now Suzuki’s use the squatting down the straights to put more weight on the rear tire and better aero efficiency.

I too saw Mir use it in practice and thought it was badass. I figured the squatting would be actuated by the ECU sensing full throttle or something other than a Manual action by the rider.

I had a busy weekend and just got through all the racing last night. Pedrosa and Savadori dodged a bad outcome there, if we consider an ankle fracture for Savadori to be a good outcome. Brilliant race by Fabio, he rode like vintage Lorenzo and his patience and determination ultimately was the reason why Jack threw it away. Binder was also incredible on his run from the back, and Taka should get some props for a fine 5th place. On the downside, sucks to see guys getting screwed by tire inconsistencies (Oliveria, Bagnaia).

Off the track, man not a good weekend for KTM from a PR standpoint. Announcing the Fernandez deal during a free practice, so that Lecuona and Petrucci would learn of it fully while at the race. Then Fernandez does an interview with Spanish media and says he's very displeased with the outcome.

WoW just WOW!!!! Woohoo

Yep looks like we are not in the Final Episode of this Soap Opera.....

I knew something was fishy when Mav waved and smiled to the cameras more in one weekend then he had in his whole career! Laughing

Shifting gears

Jabroni when are you gonna give us the info on the Holeshot device and how and when it works?

I'm on vacation in an old town in New Jersey and don't wanna spend time looking.

Spill the beans already! Cheerful
