A lot of guys who are mad at title changes or thread deletions are probably the same people who are mad that Facebook deletes their comments. Then goes onto say "...that should be illegal!" lmao. Corporations are considered people. If people (Aka VitalMX) don't want your stupid posts they can remove them. Just like if I were to come to your house and post a sign in your yard saying something you don't like. Would you leave the sign? or would you go out on your front yard and throw it away?

It doesn't matter how big the house is, or how many people can see the house. Get it? Put it into terms of a house (something tangible, something you can relate to). The home owner doesn't care, he's the owner. For example if the owner doesn't like all opinions on the moon they'll probably remove some opinions about the moon. It doesn't matter, he owns the house. He dictates what's on his home's lawn. If he doesn't like what you say about the moon, he can make you leave the property.

What you are explaining, saying Facebook should be illegal, is basically saying you want socialism. Why should the government be allowed to dictate what Facebook can or cannot put on their front lawn? Next they'll be going for your front lawn! Which is why we decided to treat businesses like people. Which also means those people can remove signs from their front yards. No matter how big their yard is.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong. You should really research how businesses are considered "people" and how that effects workers and consumers lives.

Difference is favebook claims to only be a medium for content, but the moment they start directing the flavor dont they then become more of an author rather than just a meeting place as they claim to be.

Since we’re using analogies- Adding and removing flavors seems to make them a chef and not just a pot.

I don't mind the clean up of garbage posts as well as titles of threads. When there is too much crap to sift through, it takes away from a good experience. i would rather have it cleaned up. There is no correlation between website owner deleting posts and the government slowly taking over.

What is the difference between my moon comment and your flavor comment? It only matters what their terms say when you signed up. If Facebook doesn't like the chef (or his ingredients) they can dictate both! Just like the sign in the yard... Not saying it's right but it's what we have set up and generally, especially in the US with large vocal chords, anything else is regarded as fascism/socialism/communism.

I believe they are categorized as a publisher and not a creator. Which gives them certain protections and loopholes from being held to certain standards and faults. But the whole point is that if they are changing the narratives and censoring/adding/banning/promoting different flavors with different levels of intensity and not just being a natural platform they at some point stop being just a publisher and start being an author. And thus would have to take responsibility for certain trends, comments, results etc.

But they get to hide behind this publisher status and essentially can’t be touched.

Big tech is a powerful and scary thing, especially if it’s one sided as it is.

Anyway a pretty pointless discussion as were all doomed it seems anyway sooner than later.

You are completely missing the point about being a publisher vs a platform. Either Facebook gets to curate content and they are held liable (like the NYT) or they get to avoid liability and anything goes (like the phone company). They don't get to curate and avoid liability.

We as a collective get to decide if we want to live in a world where the phone company gets to control what is communicated. We also get to decide if we want to continue giving our attention to sucky motocross productions and forum moderations.

Oh boy---- it never ceases to amaze me when "newbies" come on her JUST to complain about how things are run by a forum thats owned and run by others. If its such a terrible injustice to be so mistreated here, by all means its possible these days to initiate your own forum and govern it the way you see fit. Go at it young man !!

Also-- I say "newbie" with tongue in cheek. I'm surmising that Race Indigo is a new account name for a former member that was so rudely bounced.

FWIW--This was a Moto forum the last time I logged in-- not a Supreme court hearing of the First Amendment, Geezus !!! LMAO !!! Some guys..................

Yet here you are trying to tell a private enterprise how they should run their business.

An MX Internet forum saying that you can’t make personal attacks to others is not a slippery slope to losing free speech where it matters. Relax.

I think there's a huge difference between freedom of speech, and freedom to be an asshat, but that's just me. Smile

One of the worst parts of social media is that a lot of people now think that all points of view are equally valid.

It's the downside of not having civics in the classrooms for thirty-something years is you end up with a bunch of forty/fifty-something's that complain about what they're allowed to say when in someone else's house.

This is irrelevant to this thread/forum because it's your house and freedom of speech doesn't apply (again, my issue is mainly about you changing what people say), but freedom of speech is freedom of speech and that includes asshats. I don't like asshats as much as the next guy but my definition of an asshat may not be the exact same as the next guy. Who am I to think I should control their speech just because I don't like it? Talk about entitled.

The worst part of social media is that a lot of people now think that their point of view is more valid than someone else's. A different point of view is a perspective that you don't have so how can you possibly know that yours is more valid? That's like...your opinion man. All points of view ARE equally valid. If not, who gets to decide what is valid? Who gets to decide who gets to decide? Factchecker.org? LOL

See why this way of thinking is a slippery slope, especially when it inevitably spills out into the real world?
