The same reason none of the other brands make a 350.

Looks like your buddy has a lot of room for improvement.

It's a legitimate question. After all, they made a mountain bike, they made a quad - they even made a CAR - so why not a pit bike? I own a Freeride E, and it's anything but a serious race bike. It's a two-wheeled wide grin. I also own a Pitster Pro190R Daytona with the 14/17 wheel combo, and it's anything but a kid's toy. It's a seriously badass little ride.

So build it, fellas. I'd buy one in a red-hot second - even if it was priced to the moon.

I would equate KTM making a pit bike or a mellow trail bike to Ferarri making a family sedan. It's not in their wheel house. Pick something you're good at and try to be the best.
Ferrari does make sedans. And wagons.

I think this is a great point, a few videos of Dangerboy on it and they will sell every one.

KTM may be "Race Only", but they also get that not everyone wanted a 250 and 450 4 stroke, and also built their brand on bikes that were considered "niche".

Everyone I know rides a 300, and the 350 is amazing, I wouldn't call either of those bikes niche anymore.

I don't care if you guys hate YouTubers, but a 110 is incredibly popular, a ridiculously fun bike for all ages.

when the Japanese don’t make a 350 it’s because “they’re out of touch and too proud. They don’t care”

When KTM doesn’t make a pit bike (a market that is red hot and currently destroys how many 350s are sold) it’s because “they’re above that, like a Ferrari”

they should change their name to CulTM

You know if KTM made a pit bike, it would be at least seven more horsepower and 15 pounds less than the competitors.

Perfect market for GasGas to get into. They're the "fun" brand, and a selection of air-cooled playbikes that are great for kids and adults acting like kids would be perfect. I think simple, but lightweight would be good. All of the current playbikes are absolute porkers. Not that that's a surprise, with the rims, swingarms, handlebars, etc being made from steel instead of aluminum.

...I believe the slogan is " READY TO RACE"

...NOT " Ready to cruise around the pits with a fat, drunk, vet rider on a child's motorcycle"

You may as well have asked " why doesn't KTM sell musical instruments or heavy machinery, or small cars?" like the Japanese conglomerates do.

KTM is like IN and OUT Burger - very limited menu that they execute to perfection.

So what races do fat vet guys do on Adventure 890s? Or E Freerides?

Kinda fucked up your narrative there, no?

Yeah, all those head tubes were perfectly snapping off the frames a couple of years ago. Put your fanboy flag away. You’re embarrassing yourself.

Agreed, not the kind of guy I want to party with. When it comes to pit bikes, if you have to ask why, you'll never understand anyway.

Yeah, KTM is “ready to race”, that’s why they make street legal dual sports, adventure bikes, and an entry level line of street bikes made in India. Laughing

Because ktm is a race bike company that sells bikes to the public. The other brands are motorcycle companies that make a race bike to meet demand.

I think that’s the answer. As they move more and more production to India, it will become economically feasible to them to make less expensive motorcycles like pit bikes.

I highly doubt it would look like a PITSTER pro. They would definitely look like their own bike since right now they are pretty much dominating the industry right now.
