Was a badass! The man had heart and knew how to ride a motorcycle better than most moto board geeks. (Like myself, and probably you too - if bubba reads this, you may ignore this sentence.)

I know Chad couldn't have pushed it across, you didn't have to be there to know that - it was a tongue in cheek comment so people don't think I'm a Reed lover (I'm not). I just get really pissed at the people on here that think people have real heart when they are doing what they get paid to do - or in any sport for that matter. I respect LB in the sport, but I don't like the guy.

And as for having heart, you have no idea about me or what I'm about. Keep it up there internet tough guy.

Man I was thinking the same thing. This dude is there with RC on heart and determination. Wish Ryno would line up for national or two like Doug Henry did for years..

I find it odd that he pushed his bike for so long, then crossed the finished line, hopped a leg over it, AND RODE OFF!!!!

Trust me, the feelings are mutual there internet tough guy, the feelings are mutual.

But I will extend this bit of the peace pipe - you and I do have in one thing common: that we both have a love for riding (and following) the sport of motorcyles riden on dirt, so neither of us can be all that bad. Agree?

I think if you'd been hanging out here for more than what, three weeks? You'd know that tough guy is pretty much the last on my list of things that I try to be here. But someone does have to play janitor and that usually falls into my hands...or one of the other mods.

Glad to hear that you love the riding and enthusiast side of it. Sometimes I think people just come here to argue...er, I mean bench race. Wink

As for me, everyone needs to put food on the table, but if I didn't love what I was doing, I wouldn't spend about 35 weekends a year chasing these guys around, shooting photos, and writing about what I see and hear about at the tracks.

Ok, I'm sorry for posting one bad joke that came to me over my email a few weeks ago. Probably bad judgment on my part, but I got a chuckle out of it and thought others might too. Bad decision on my part. Trust me, won't happen again.

I'm not one to argue really. If you look at 90% of what I have posted - albeit which isn't much (yes, I'm a newbee but we all were at one point), it's positive in nature and not argumentative. I do tend to be negative toward LB and if that offends you, I apologize. It's likely all the negative you will get out of me.

Glad to hear you enjoy your work - I love my job/company too but I'm envious of your job as well. Good luck in your career and I promise not to be too much of douche.

Man that was a gnarly get off. Brooks was a beast on a bike geeze. Its funny seeing how so many people make assumptions based off what they see, or what they've heard over a screen. Every since the Chisholm happening at salt lake everyone wants to bag on the dude AND HE WASNT EVEN RIDING THE BIKE!! Even Chad Reed wants to throw fuel on the fire. Whatev though its none of my buisness i guess lol.

Why would Hill have to win the Championship to give props? Josh Hill wasn't even on the radar in 2009 and he has put in his best results ever. Brooks didn't do everything and I'm sure he'll admit it, because with out Josh Hill willing to work as hard as he has been, no one could have helped him. But the way it looks to me, Josh Hill was willing to do the work and open minded enough to listen to Brooks.

Even if Josh Hill fell off the face of the earth tomorrow, he has done more and had better results than he has since he turned professional. Something has helped Josh Hill this year and the only change to his program, it that he moved to L&M.
You have a very selective memory...
Josh Hill won the minneapolis supercross race in 2008 finished 5th overall in his 1st yr in the 450 class.
"Josh Hill wasn't even on the radar in 2009 and he has put in his best results ever"
He finished 10th overall and was out for 4 races injured that yr.
i refer you again to minneapolis as best results ever.
At least get your facts straight.

Gotcha. I was just curious. Sometimes people here seem to grab onto an opinion on how someone is based on not much more than what they've read on the boards, or because "It's the popular thing to do."

Larry has always been pretty fair for me to deal with...though I wouldn't want to race against him. Smile

If I was in a title chase for a some kind of championship title (like that'll ever happen) would I want him on my side? Heck yeah.
Most of the loudmouths on this board couldn't carry LB's jock.
Who would want to? Im in if thats what youre into thats your deal...

Hahaha I got ZERO beef with Larry Brooks, he was a BAD ASS rider. In my humble opinion he got a little wrapped around the axle IF people said anything negative about him, James (when he managed San Manual Yamaha). I made a comment and he HOFFED AND PUFFED scream about he was going to call my Fire Department and get me fired and on and on. Well that was about 10 years ago and yep no phone calls to my boss and no I did not get fired (just retired after 28 years). I found it all comical. No Professional rider, owners, team managers should even give ANYBODY that is saying anything negative the time of day. I would bet there are tons of rider, owners, managers that read these posts and just let the negative bullshit roll off their back and comment on the positive, as it should be.

That a cool story to share.

I recall he was super intense as a team manager. How would a team managers battle between Larry Brooks and Tony Alessi go down? Those guys like to win.

Not sure where to throw these but as Larry B was part of a group of Americans that visited SA for a few races here goes. The USA riders rode with their initials with the exception of GA - Greg Albertyn. Fred Andews won the series. Jeff Mataisevich, Tom Clowers Talon Vohland , Rex Staten and a number of other dudes can be seen.

BM was either Badah Minor or Brian Manley. Cant recall who TW was.

Andrew Jefferson also came out but busted his collarbone and went touring SA instead.

One of the best ever to come out of SA. A very young Greg Albertyn.

As he is to this day. He's been doing a fine job managing the Suzuki Am-Pro development team.

He's had some rough spells; but, who hasn't?

Never met Larry...but it seems like you hear good/bad about anybody in this sport with a passion to win and is serious as hell about it. He's been badmouthed as a team manager several times that I've read...but the OEM's don't pay a manager to be everybody's buddy or to always be Mr. Nice Guy. They pay him to manage a team and to win races. I just think sometimes that ruffles some feathers. The guy obviously has a heart for racing, that's for sure.
