Rerouting the 2021 Honda CRF 450R Clutch Line

Looks like the factory guys are rerouting the clutch line.

Wondering when Honda will do this on the production bikes. But, in the meantime, would any clutch line work so that the line can be run behind the plate and through the frame? Thinking braided would be the way to go.

Moto Concepts has one 2021 Honda 450. They put steel braided line from Kore. Kore might be selling them ready to mount?

It looks so much better rerouted. Makes zero sense why Honda would do that. I’ve noticed Gajser’s bike runs it the stock way

Stock clutch hose works in front of the triple clamp. Use a 10-12mm thick spacer behind the upper number plate mount to make a little more space for the hose to move around.
It's a mandatory move to use a larger fuel tank. But hey, what do "off-road" guys knowGrinning

That is not a CRF450 2021...

I just noticed that the stock 2021 has the throttle cable going behind the bars and down vs the factory bike being a more traditional routing.

Edit: If Beda is correct, forget what I said.

See my email above. I had custom lines made. Runs closer the the engine at the bottom as well, less chance to get snagged

I think that shot in the video is just an older picture to show the HRC clamps as he talks about them. Looks like the old-style tank, cover, and steering head

Stock the clutch line looks bobo, but the routing works and don’t notice it while riding. I like the throttle cable stock routing. Glad they copied KTM.

If you look at the screen around 23 seconds in, you will see they are still using the tank mounted tab to route the clutch hose and what appears to be the "under the bar" routing other have used. I tried it, didn't like it. The stock routings are fine for now. If a braided line kit is released, I will upgrade then. I haven't noticed the throttle cable routing being an issue on the track.

I had custom braided line kits made. Better routing, sticks out less by the slave cylinder and “normal” routing through the triple clamps. Feel at the lever seems to be better and more precise. Made in the USA, high quality lines. If interested email me at ctmx63@gmail.com.

The original pic..... I don't even see that it's even a hydro clutch.

I've left mine alone for now, but I may need to do something soon. I put my hour meter on the tank bolt and it's rubbing my throttle cables a little bit more than I'd like.

Just picked up an almost new 2021 CRF450. Does anyone have a solution for the throttle cable routing so the throttle doesn't stick when the bars turn too far to the right? Is this a common thing? I've searched the Google and can't see anyone else having the throttle stick.

Haven’t had any issues on mine with the throttle sticking when turning the bars. Post a pic how it’s routed currently

Oh man… I’m an idiot. The cable was tight, I loosened it off just a bit and it resolved the issue.
The throttle didn’t feel ridiculously tight, but with the bars all the way to the right it was very sticky.

What do you mean by the cable was too tight? The slack adjuster was adjusted out too much?

That's what a experienced mechanic does.

The guys in Japan follow their engeening spec but the man on the ground often figures out the tiny flaws through trail and error

If only Honda could have seen our CRF 150's in 2009....they would have gone back to the egineering department and heads would have rolled.

There is ALWAYS room for improvement!

@ Shift Mx, it looks like your throttle cable is adjusted way out. I would bring it in more so it has some play. I’m sure you’re aware but use that little adjuster wheel on the cable to adjust play. You can also make bigger adjustments down by the throttle body

The throttle didn’t feel ridiculously tight, but with the bars all the way to the right it was very sticky.

Also make sure the throttle housing isn't slid up on the bar too far.
