Had an awesome day riding yesterday. Second time on the bike. I think I’ve decided to get a tall seat (I’m 6’2”) and I need to swap the battery out. It’s starting to act buggy and crank weak, I don’t think it’s gonna make it much longer. Gonna order that one from WPS Keefer recommended. Otherwise the bike worked great and I freaking love how this thing handles. Very fun to ride. Suspension still feels great to me. Hitting the bigger jumps here at Breezewood and never had any complaints.

Maybe I missed it early in the previous pages, what did you have prior to this bike?

Weird on the battery I have had mine since December and it’s been perfect. They have to crank a little bit longer then some bikes but mine cranks with authority like my 2020 Honda did.

Love mine as well

Yeah it’s having an issue where it will stop cranking after maybe two seconds and it doesn’t crank very hard. It got better late in the day but after sitting for two weekends it was acting sluggish. I just don’t want to show up at the track with a dead battery and miss out on a ride. I put a quality lithium battery in my Husky SM450R and that was completely reliable with no maintainer while it sat. That’s the only other e start only FI dirt bike I have experience with.

I’m so glad I got the blue one. Just because it would have been an up charge on the bike and then I would have had to buy a set of blue plastics.

I think it would actually look good if you kept the factory monster shrouds and replaced all the other plastic with blue ones except keep the black fork guards. That was my plan if I had gotten the black bike.

Strange maybe just got a bad one. That aside the bike works amazing I find so far.

Guess I’m not alone. Didn’t have blue in stock when I got mine so the first thing I did was order blue plastic and stock graphics from decal works. Unless they’re paying me I’m not running that putrid claw.

I rode my buddy JD's '21 YZ250F last Saturday at Grear MX. This bike sometimes takes a few tries to start (can see this on the video link below from my ride). The '21 YZ250F's work so well with such strong power for a 250F and great suspension that is easily tuneable it is easy to see why these bikes are so popular.

I could've got the Blue one and would've already had it too lol. The last Blue was coming in March and the last Monster in April. I just figured I'd get the Monster Edition for something different. I plan on just keeping the stock look and adding backgrounds, for a while. Eventually I may buy some blue plastic and redo it with some more blue once it needs a refresh. I know a lot of people make fun of the Monster Edition but I honestly don't care. I think the team bikes look cool (and how that scheme carries over through all of Yamaha pro motorsports teams) so I figured it was something different, for me.

Looks and sounds like it has really healthy bottom end power but sounds like it goes flat pretty quickly on top. Does it feel that way too? Hard to tell I haven’t ridden a 250f in almost 10 years so I’m just trying to gauge the power by sound as much as I can. I want one but they just sound like they are always revving so high all the time to go anywhere and I’m not a fan of that type of riding.

The YZ250Fs are loud and the sound is decieving. It makes really good bottom and with the over rev map, the top end os usable. However, you dont need to rev it to make power. Short shift and use a map that adds to the bottom and it CRUISES lmao. The engine revs up quick and is very free so I dont feel the need to abuse my clutch. Half the time I use the clutch, the bike will stand up on me vs me just turning the throttle

I picked my 2021 up in September of 2020. The day after i tore my ACL,mcl and pcl. Haven’t even rode my 2021 yet. Bike has been sitting in my garage for six months.
I have a vortex Ecu from twisted, no toil super flow kit, a kit forks and some flow lowering pegs to put on the bike. I also put a Antigravity cell 8 battery in the bike. I want to ride the bike stock first before i put the ecu, pegs and forks on.
Going to ride it this weekend. I’m pumped.

What were you riding before? Looking forward to a ride report and a report on the vortex. Sorry about the injury but congrats on the new bike!

So for you guys already riding the 21' has anyone tried a different rear sprocket such as a 51 compared to stock 50?

3rd gear is kind of short as it is. I wouldn’t want to make it any shorter. My .02

It will make 3rd gear more usable through corners and gives it longer legs down the next straight away before the power falls off, its also super crispy and responsive. They raise the limiter a few hundred RPM so i'd assume the extra length you get in 3rd gear is from that.

The Vortex and head combo i was running for a minute really was the ticket, able to drop to a 49T sprocket still keep 3rd usable for corners but it really had some real length of usable power down the next straightaway. In stock trim 3rd gear just feel so short before you need the shift, i found it really annoying, the Vortex helps that a good bit by raising the RPM ceiling but the head i think it was made the power stay there the whole time.

Riding with a 49 behind and it is the best combo IMO
(I have a GET ecu and Nihilo/dt-1 airbox fmf exhaust mods but my friend 21 stock s is also running the 49 and likes it better than the 50)

+1 on the idea of a 49T and ECU with an airbox cover. 3rd for me is a tiny bit short in some cases. I dont ride super open tracks so its no biggie.

Anyone know a source for a Twinair Powerflow kit for this bike? I have had no luck trying to get one now and online retailers say it wont be in till May. Welp

Good luck on finding the Powerflow...we bought the last one from the distributors 3 weeks ago. Can't get Renthal rear sprockets and Twin Air filters as well, tires too are starting to be the same. I called Works Connection about a part and they said next September so it is gonna be tough till supply is met again with most stuff.

I tried to race a 250F because my lap times were better on a practice day. Once the race started and i couldn't always use the main line.....i got clobbered. I would go off the main line to make a pass and being on the 250F hampered my ability to switch lines and accelerate out of the deeper stuff. For stadium type tracks.....i prefer a 250F all day long.

So did your results change when you went to the 450? I’ve found I beat the same people whether I’m on a 125 or 250f or 350sxf and the same people beat me. Think whatever you are more comfortable on is more important than bike HP, but then again our vet class turn out hasn’t been the greatest and the biggest gate I’ve been on in the last 10 years or so has been around 20 riders
Yep, found this out back in 2003 with a YZ250F, YZ250, and a KX100. I could run the same lap times on each one, it's like it's not the bike but the rider that matters... I was only 140lbs back then though, the KX suspension might struggle a bit more now.

Please let us know if the flo pegs are worth it for taller guys. I am lifting the seat but Wondering if the pegs will help. From the Keefer review it only lowers 2mm.

I have them but took them off. I’m only 5,11 so didn’t need them. But I couldn’t really tell at all I had them on. But if your over 6 you may.
