I have a 2009 YZ 250 and it was in need of a rebuild so I went a little overboard........

CRM Carbon Tank
CRM Carbon Subframe
Lots of Ti Bolts
YZ450 Rear SwingArm Conversion

And Much more!

Awesome! Give us the good stuff, some shots of that subframe and tank without the seat on.
And if you ever have the chance I’d like to know what that subframe weighs.

Yeah, what he said ^ 😎
For real though, bad ass!
Who did you get the team modified swingarm from? Starts with J & ends with R?

Yep, roger that. It was who I thought you got it from as they were the big team doing that extra plate at the time.

Agree Mr Robinson! I love that carbon subframe! So bad a$$!!! Would love to see how much it weighs compared to stock.

Yes! We found a nice digital animal scale and was able to get the whole bike on it last week.

FULLY FUELED and ALL Fluids......

201.3!!!

Can totally feel it on the track.

Next is the lighter seat, and maybe Ti Spokes....

See if can break 200.....

I think a Ti shock spring would get you there.

Yeah I agree. Measured it a few times to check it.......craziest part is it is having to relearn how to ride it. The power band kicks in and it wants to launch away....lol......Looking forward to first full race test next weekend at Budds Creek

I can see the big stuff you used to save weight ( like the tank, subframe, swingarm conversion, tires, triple clamps, ti pegs & bolts, etc.) but what else did you do to get the weight down? Did you run UL tubes, ti axles or pivot bolt, ti shock spring, seat foam? A few things are working against you like the wheels, clutch & ignition cover, frame cover but to be at 201 is just awesome! You can easily get below 200 with a few little tweaks 😎

Subframe bolts, Sprockets bolts, TI Shock Spring. Also used Carbon Fiber head stays, And few other CF pieces.
Drilled washers, ti seat brackets, ti air filter bolt.

I did not do the axles (I read a lot of conflicting experiences (breaking/freezing) and they are stupid expensive.
Like the cost for the front and rear axles is more than I paid for all the CF parts.

I will see how it goes this season and maybe next do the last bits to see how low it can go.

Nice & makes sense. You did a good job for sure👍🏻

I had a nice savings when I did both of mine. To alleviate the freezing / galling issue I went & TiN coated mine. You can also DLC coat them but I wanted the gold to pop. Never had any breaking problems. The shoulder joints just need to be machined properly. If you do ever want to get a set of titanium axles I’ll hook you up but you got to get me one of those CF subframes! Tank I don’t need but I’ve been trying to get one of those subframes for a loooong time 😎
