I was told at the track about a service that you can send dirty filters into and they send them back cleaned and oiled, for a fee of course. Anyone heard of this before?

I would think if you have enough filters to send him and still ride ALOT then you would have enough filters to rotate in and out and clean and oil

I change my filters after every ride, always have. Its really not that hard. Keep 3-4 in rotation and wash 3 at a time, then old and bag several at a time. At worst this means once a week, at best, maybe once a month

We have 8(?) but for example will go through 3 in a race weekend and 2 during the week(thats if I am not riding and it's just the kid(s). I usually have the my son wash them and he does a good job, but then the oiling takes me lets say 20 minutes when all is said and done? I use No-Toil spray on oil (love the stuff) and their cleaner. We do get support but right now they are out of stock, so I am paying $16-ish a can through RMATVMC and get about 3.5 filters per can. So doing the math, I am paying about $6-ish a filter to clean and prep? Again time and cost, it may be worth it?

Why don't you just use a washing machine? When I bought my wife a new one I moved the old one to the garage. I just roll it out and hook the hose to it outside and throw them in on delicate they come out looking brand new. Heck I still did it in that washer I the house I just didn't let her know about it.

I hate the process. You can buy a pre oiled clean filter for 10 bucks. I buy them 10 at a time and change them once a week or more if racing. 50 a month is well worth not having to deal with any of it in my eyes. By the time you pay someone to clean oil them, why not just buy them and toss them.

But, what about the environment?

Mx Filter Service is the ticket. For me the cost is worth it. It just makes sense if you add up cleaning supplies, air filter oil, and the time spent cleaning 10+ filters at a time.

Edit: I'm also prone to migraine headaches that put me down for days. Strong smells such as gasoline can be a migraine trigger, which really makes the decision easy for me. In the future I'd love to have a dedicated washing machine just for filters.

Actually, ya. Dude, why be wasteful if you don't have to? That's why I don't like the "disposable" option.

soak em in mineral spirits, pull out and squeeze. cover in dawn dish detergent and squeeze it in. Throw in the laundry machine with low spin speed and warm rinse. I usually do 5 at a time and they come out clean without damage. Have done it for 4 years and havent trashed my laundry machine or destroyed a filter yet.

I hate cleaning air filters. I don't know why.
I've tried the disposable filters, but I don't like throwing them away.
A friend gave me a set of filter skins. I'm going to try those first.
If they don't work well, I'm going to give mxfilterservice.com a try.

After 40 years of cleaning filters, I started using Maxima Pro Filters 18 months ago.
Call me lazy. 😎
I look at it that I’m not using any cleaners I have to dispose of. Not throwing away empty filter oil containers so saving the environment that way.

The hour or two a month or so I save not having to clean and oil my air filters frees me up to take my recycle to the collection center more often which is a much larger reduction in my carbon footprint.

Plus I don’t use plastic gloves or buy any air filter oil bottles ever so it makes me sleep a little easier for being lazy and enjoying this luxury Smile

I have an old cat litter bucket with gas in it ... twice a year I'll scrape out the sediment. Takes 10min to clean and oil a filter. Twice as long if you're drinkin a beer with it. Yes I still put grease on the lip too.
Old school.
