Planning the trip to go to the Daytona Supercross for the first time in March and I’ve got a few questions for locals or people who attend normally!
So ideally I’d like to fly down on Friday the 5th, and then return home Sunday the 7th. So I’ll need a 2 night hotel for starters!
What’s the go to for a nice hotel close to the speedway?
And as far as tickets go, it looks like there’s only 4 different ticket options. (compared to my local Indy sx) are either the Trackside ticket or “the roost” level tickets worth upgrading to over regular general admission? Probably will go with trackside tickets but I just want to make sure it’s worth the upgraded price over GA.
Any other helpful info is appreciated!
Thanks in advanced

Hotel wise, we always stay in the Hilton garden inn right there by the track, or the Hampton inn (a little further). its a little over $200 a night, but they go extremely quick so book soon.
And bring a helmet, gloves and long sleeves/pants if you are interested in demo rides, the big manufacturers have demo rigs outside the speedway starting Friday morning for free street demo rides.
PM me if you have any questions
Do not book anything you can't cancel. The city canceled Biketoberfest last October with little notice, like 2-3 weeks. Doesn't matter what Gov says if the city or county says no.
With minimal everything, stay across street from the track. Likely stay anywhere you want compared to years past. Stay on the beach cheap. Everyone is in masks everywhere. Even many beaches.
No idea how Daytona is going to handle distancing, especially with that general admission trackside standing viewing.
The roost is assigned seating. The track is so long, it's almost impossible to see all of it like you can in a stadium unless up high in grandstands, but then you're far away. Let track map be your guide.
Another thing, Daytona is FAMOUS for changing the rules constantly. Whatever it was, isn't and what it was fifteen minutes ago is no more. Do not depend on the past or what you're told by the speedway other than your assigned seat, expect changes before and throughout the events. They're weird that way. Especially in pits with open or closed gates.
We're camping at a state park about 20 min away this year and ride the adventure bike in, seat in reserved seats which are higher but allow for better viewing. They have let people on the track in years past when it is over, but with potential restrictions this year, who knows if that will happen. The non-reserved seats are standing along the banking. The tickets you end up purchasing are dependent on what you would like; see the whole track, or down closer for an experience you won't get at any other facility.
Right by the airport and walking distance to speedway you have a Hilton Garden, Hampton Inn, Courtyard and Residence Inn; across the street a Homewood suites. They all still have vacancies, which is a rarity.

The Daytona City Council just announced that they are issuing all vendor and special permits like a normal bike week. They want inside bar capacity on Main St at 60%.
As for the race, because of social distancing protocols, none of the Amateur registrations got a GA ticket to the pro race this year. Those are most of the people that have filled the pit road grandstands the last 11 years. Not sure how the pit road bleachers will be this year, but those are tough to see much of the track. I've always taken my GA seating and sat up high across the track so that we can see the whole track. To me those are much better seating. Anything in the second section and up are good in my opinion.
Hotels are all going to be expensive because of Bike Week. Do a search there are a quite a few by the track, but honestly, you might find one over on the beach for less more than likely. Traffic south of Main St. is usually better than coming from the north south to main st, if you decide to stay on the beach. Stay long enough that you can hit Main St one night and enjoy the bands and scenes since your there. If you have an airport close to you that flies Allegiant, I highly recommend flying them direct right into Sanford. A short 50 minute drive right up 415 to the speedway.
I recommend vrbo for lodging. I rented a house 30 minutes east of the track for $47 a night. Killer looking place too.
Sorry I'm not much help, but john250 knows the area very well! He's been a big help to me!
Mxvet, I'm running the +30 classes.
