Planning First Time trip To Daytona Sx!

Planning the trip to go to the Daytona Supercross for the first time in March and I’ve got a few questions for locals or people who attend normally!
So ideally I’d like to fly down on Friday the 5th, and then return home Sunday the 7th. So I’ll need a 2 night hotel for starters!
What’s the go to for a nice hotel close to the speedway?
And as far as tickets go, it looks like there’s only 4 different ticket options. (compared to my local Indy sx) are either the Trackside ticket or “the roost” level tickets worth upgrading to over regular general admission? Probably will go with trackside tickets but I just want to make sure it’s worth the upgraded price over GA.
Any other helpful info is appreciated!
Thanks in advanced

I lived down there for 6 years and went to bike week every single year and this year will be my 3rd daytona supercross. Keep in mind the regular general admission ticket is standing room only. Not an actual seat. I HIGHLY recommend a reserved seat (55-60 range) AND a trackside access pass. It is spendy, but I usually watch practice/qualifying from the trackside area (which is the actual NASCAR track) and then go upstairs to watch the night show. That way you get best of both worlds. From what i have seen, and heard, The Roost section is not a great value. Its essentially the same price as what I recommended, but its just grandstands that are GA. You are close to the track, but last year they had palm trees blocking your view of half the track in that section. For parking, its usually free across the street at One Daytona, but its a hike. They havent released parking yet but its usually $10-30 depending on the area. I like trackside parking inside the geico gate (gate 1 i believe) it was $25 last year, and was super cool because you parked on the NASCAR track and has easy access to get out. Also, people rush the track after the 450 main, so dont leave early!

Hotel wise, we always stay in the Hilton garden inn right there by the track, or the Hampton inn (a little further). its a little over $200 a night, but they go extremely quick so book soon.

And bring a helmet, gloves and long sleeves/pants if you are interested in demo rides, the big manufacturers have demo rigs outside the speedway starting Friday morning for free street demo rides.

PM me if you have any questions

I live a bit south of Daytona.

Do not book anything you can't cancel. The city canceled Biketoberfest last October with little notice, like 2-3 weeks. Doesn't matter what Gov says if the city or county says no.

With minimal everything, stay across street from the track. Likely stay anywhere you want compared to years past. Stay on the beach cheap. Everyone is in masks everywhere. Even many beaches.
No idea how Daytona is going to handle distancing, especially with that general admission trackside standing viewing.
The roost is assigned seating. The track is so long, it's almost impossible to see all of it like you can in a stadium unless up high in grandstands, but then you're far away. Let track map be your guide.

Another thing, Daytona is FAMOUS for changing the rules constantly. Whatever it was, isn't and what it was fifteen minutes ago is no more. Do not depend on the past or what you're told by the speedway other than your assigned seat, expect changes before and throughout the events. They're weird that way. Especially in pits with open or closed gates.

There are many hotels close by in walking distance but Prices jumped in the last 5 or 6 years. Hotels.com has hotels on map to see what’s close.

The Roost tickets are floor level on the pitroad side; cool to be close, but with no tent camping this year, it kind of took away the fun of setting up, watching practice/quali, walk through the pits, running back and bench racing with a few beverages, then walk back for the night show. They added more bleachers to that side last year, but unless you get there early, expect to find standing room only. Generally you can only see 1 lane, depending on track design. 2019 the track was epic, and the long lane made for good viewing; 2020 that kink in the middle where Tomac made the pass kind of stunk and made viewing difficult.

We're camping at a state park about 20 min away this year and ride the adventure bike in, seat in reserved seats which are higher but allow for better viewing. They have let people on the track in years past when it is over, but with potential restrictions this year, who knows if that will happen. The non-reserved seats are standing along the banking. The tickets you end up purchasing are dependent on what you would like; see the whole track, or down closer for an experience you won't get at any other facility.

Right by the airport and walking distance to speedway you have a Hilton Garden, Hampton Inn, Courtyard and Residence Inn; across the street a Homewood suites. They all still have vacancies, which is a rarity.

Last year I stayed at The Daytona. It is a brand new Marriott hotel right across International Speedway from the track. Really nice place with tons of restaurants nearby, plenty of parking, and a free airport shuttle. There is a bridge right in front of the hotel that allows you to walk right over to the stadium. Unless you’re looking to stay by the beach, I highly recommend this place.

This will also be a first time going to Daytona. Have been to other venues but your typical stadium type situation. We are flying into Orlando and driving up to Daytona. Haven't booked a hotel yet as the wife and kids mainly want to stay on the beach. There is a high chance I will be going to the race myself or with my 7yo.
Great info about the seats and tickets for the actual race. Thanks!!

I've been going to Daytona every year for almost 40 years. I am also in Daytona about every month. Daytona DID NOT cancel biketoberfest, I was there. They did not issue vendor and special permits (beer booths and bands) for Main St. The bars were open, and crowded inside. Other areas outside Daytona City Limits were open and normal. Many West Coast vendors were not there, because they were not allowing their employees to travel yet.

The Daytona City Council just announced that they are issuing all vendor and special permits like a normal bike week. They want inside bar capacity on Main St at 60%.

As for the race, because of social distancing protocols, none of the Amateur registrations got a GA ticket to the pro race this year. Those are most of the people that have filled the pit road grandstands the last 11 years. Not sure how the pit road bleachers will be this year, but those are tough to see much of the track. I've always taken my GA seating and sat up high across the track so that we can see the whole track. To me those are much better seating. Anything in the second section and up are good in my opinion.

Hotels are all going to be expensive because of Bike Week. Do a search there are a quite a few by the track, but honestly, you might find one over on the beach for less more than likely. Traffic south of Main St. is usually better than coming from the north south to main st, if you decide to stay on the beach. Stay long enough that you can hit Main St one night and enjoy the bands and scenes since your there. If you have an airport close to you that flies Allegiant, I highly recommend flying them direct right into Sanford. A short 50 minute drive right up 415 to the speedway.

I'm going, but unfortunately won't be going to the pro race. I'm solely going to race amature day and knock it off the bucket list.

I recommend vrbo for lodging. I rented a house 30 minutes east of the track for $47 a night. Killer looking place too.

Sorry I'm not much help, but john250 knows the area very well! He's been a big help to me!

Meister, what class will you be running? I’ll be in 40 B/C. Went last year for the first time and had a blast.
